Kamil Grabara's wife explained she has been sent hundreds of death threats from Galatasaray supporters after her husband and Former Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara described the Turkish side's stadium as a 's*** hole'.
The ex-Reds shot-stopper was involved in Tuesday's Champions League group stage clash that saw Galatasaray score twice late-on and salvage a point from the European encounter.
In a masterclass in how not to endear yourself to a set of rival fans, Polish stopper Grabara took to Instagram post-match and wrote: 'Deserved all 3pts from that s*** hole, but that's life, we move on.'
Following a predictable backlash, he edited the post to 's*** game' but not before his comments had caused a stir on social media.
Posting an image in response to a threatening message she had received after the game, Dominika Robak captioned a story update: 'Last night I got over 300 death messages, this isn't normal'.
Grabara, 24, who spent five years with Liverpool between 2016 and 2021 but didn't make a first-team appearance, conceded two late goals as Galatasaray battled back to draw 2-2.
As Manchester United began their Champions League campaign with a 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich, the other match in Group A proved to be a highly entertaining one.
Grabara was called upon to make a number of saves as Galatasaray dominated the opening exchanges in front of a typically passionate crowd at the Rams Park.
But Copenhagen took a surprise lead against the run of play through Mohamed Elyounoussi on 35 minutes and doubled their advantage through Diogo Goncalves after 58 minutes.
The Danish side came under the cosh again, however, after Elias Jelert was sent off with 17 minutes of the contest remaining.
Sacha Boey duly halved the arrears with four to play and then Grabara was again beaten when Tete equalised for the Turkish side a couple of minutes later.
Grabara has been Copenhagen's regular No 1 for the past two seasons, having left Liverpool for them in 2021. He is set to join the German club Wolfsburg next summer.
Galatasaray make the trip to Old Trafford next on October 3, while Copenhagen will host Bayern.
Grabara's comments will no doubt ensure he gets a fiery reception from the travelling Galatasaray fans when they visit the Parken Stadium on December 12.
