Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that he beat Thierry Henry's record of 20 assists in a Premier League season.
The Manchester City midfielder matched Henry's record as he set up Raheem Sterling in a 5-0 victory over Norwich.
However, De Bruyne is adamant that he actually beat Henry's record, which the Frenchman set while playing for Arsenal in the 2002-03 season.
De Bruyne's cross led to Sterling scoring against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in December but it didn't count as an assist due to a slight deflection.
Then De Bruyne teed up Sterling again in the reverse fixture against Arsenal in June but missed out on the assist as the ball hit David Luiz on the thigh.
As reported by goal, De Bruyne said: 'I have got two more – you guys took two away from me that I am still claiming so for me I was already above [Henry].
'It is what it is. I need my team-mates, obviously I am creating for them to score, and I am grateful when they do. It is nice to have [the record] and it is nice to have it with Thierry.'
Even though he may feel rather hard done by in not beating Henry's record, De Bruyne can still be very pleased with his performances this season.
There is still work for City to do this campaign, however, as they remain involved in the Champions League.
City have a 2-1 lead from going into the second leg of their last-16 tie against Real Madrid.
