The German defender conceded that the Bundesliga champions made too many mistakes against the Dutch giants while insisting the team have to improve
Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich feels something has to change after stating they were 'lucky' to escape with a 1-1 draw against Ajax on Tuesday night.
The German champions took the lead at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League clash, courtesy of a rare goal from Mats Hummels in the fourth minute, but they were pegged back when Noussair Mazraoui found the net for the visitors 20 minutes later.
The Eredivisie champions grew into the contest and looked the more likely to grab a winner as the game wore on, as Bayern's talented attacking players struggled to create any meaningful openings in the final third.
Niko Kovac's men are now without a win in their last three matches and Kimmich is adamant that changes must be made if they are to get their season back on track.
"Things have to change now, we have to do better to dominate our opponents and not be allowed to throw in such mistakes, again and again," the 23-year-old full-back said post-match .
"I do not want to deny the will, it's not about commitment and fitness, it's just that we have too many mistakes in our game."
Kimmich went on to praise Ajax for their display, insisting that they were good value for their point in Munich.
"Ajax did a really good job, they realised that they had a plan both against and with the ball," he added.
"They played really well and were better than us at the beginning of the second half.
"They should have taken the lead, you have to say that we got a lucky point."
The Dutch outfit are now top of Group E on goal difference ahead of Bayern, while Benfica sit in third ahead of AEK Athens after winning 3-2 in Greece.
Next up for the Bavarians is a home game against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, which is a must-win match for Kovac's side if they are to leapfrog Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Bayern Munchen ussually go past the quarter finals, semi finals and in the finals or even win the champions league cup.So these stages Bayern Munchen reach every season is actually a convincing and a good perfomance for a big club as it is. Remember there are many clubs in the world who call themselves as big clubs but they dont reach that stages in the champions league competition each season. How can you explain this issue according to these so called who also call themseves as big clubs?
I am not a Bayern fan but the other guy is right nearly nearly cannot kill a bird the last time Bayern won UCL was 2013 so it is high time they start thinking of getting past semis and quarter to actually win the trophy this is a team that once trashed barca 7-0 in UCL (both legs) as deadly as barca is they couldn't register a single goal and Bayern made them look like barca had no defender on pitch that day they used to spread fear across Europe but now things are different I just want them to be deadly once again like before

I hope they get their minds and tactics right because I really enjoy watching them especially in UCL we still need that threat in the UCL to make it difficult and more admiring to watch

Well we always talk about a season in which Bayern aren’t going to run away with it and it certainly seems we are in for the running for one. Horrible performances versus Augsburg, Berlin, and Ajax. Kovac has his work cut out for him.

So, wanna start talking about the Bayern crisis? I mean, it's a trend by now, right?

Bayern really need coman back. He's our only player that actually takes players on and gets past them. Ribery is too old he's slow and slowing down in numbers drastically. I love him don't get me wrong but with him and robben as our starting wingers we have problems.

Bayern are an ageing team, ancient in terms of most European teams. They'll still walk the league but won't go near the champions league.

There needs to be some harsh reality setting with players like Ribery Muller Robben Lewandowski ... to get rid of.
