Jurgen Klopp has, on Friday, confirmed his plans for Harvey Elliott for the 2021/22 campaign.
Elliott shines with Blackburn
Liverpool would sign Harvey Elliot in July of 2019 from Fulham for a fee believed to be around £1.53m.
Elliott spent his first season on Merseyside largely plying his trade in Liverpool’s youth ranks, whilst also being handed the odd chance in the first-team.
The youngster featured nine times for the Reds’ senior side, mostly in the FA Cup and League Cup.
In 2020/21, however, Elliott would be sent out on loan to garner some much-needed first-team experience.
The 18-year-old would be shipped off to Championship side Blackburn for the duration of the 2020/21 campaign.
And to say the winger grabbed this opportunity with both hands would be putting it lightly.
All told, Elliott would score seven goals and provide 11 assists in 41 league outings for the Rovers last term, with his quick feet and skills firmly cementing him as a fan favourite at Ewood Park.
Klopp makes Harvey Elliott decision
Elliott has since returned to Liverpool and would feature quite heavily in pre-season.
But given his age and the fact he is competing with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for a starting berth, many may have expected the teenager to once again be loaned out this year as well.
However, when drawn on plans for Elliott to be part of Liverpool’s first-team squad this season, the German stated:
“That’s the plan. He showed up in an exceptional way. He brings different a dimension into the game. He played a top pre-season.”
