Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for regular minutes at Manchester United this season and could be set for a loan move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window
Kobbie Mainoo could be on his way out of Manchester United as the January transfer window looms, following a summer filled with speculation about his future. Despite being linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer, Mainoo stayed put at United, despite his desire for regular action.
The young midfielder had a promising start under former boss Erik ten Hag, but has found it tough to secure a spot in the starting line-up under Ruben Amorim's reign.
So far this season, Mainoo has only made eight appearances for United and hasn't started a single Premier League match. His sole start was in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town back in September, where he played the full 90 minutes.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on Mainoo's situation, hinting that a January move could be on the horizon.
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano suggested that Mainoo is open to a loan deal that would run until the end of the season.
West Ham, who are currently battling relegation, are said to be interested in Mainoo, with suggestions that Nuno Espirito Santo's side can 'guarantee' him a regular place in their starting XI. Napoli have also been named as a potential suitor for Mainoo, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Amorim recently addressed Mainoo's lack of game time this season, expressing his wish for the Red Devils' campaign to have allowed the midfielder more opportunities on the pitch.
"I see Kobbie Mainoo training today, and he deserves to play," Amorim said in an interview with beIN Sports. "But then I have to take one guy [out] that is playing really well.
"We should have played yesterday in the Carabao Cup, because I need to see Kobbie Mainoo playing, I need to see Josh [Zirkzee].
"All these guys deserve to play, but in the end, with one game [a week], you need to make choices.
"So you have both sides, but we are taking advantage of the good side of not playing in the middle of the week."

so should he change the formation because of one player? Messi, neyman and mbappe played in psg and couldn't win champions league..it is not about mainoo talent, it is about what works for the team..so don't blame the coach for not using him because everyone in that position can offer more than him..he is better than ugarte but can he defend track back like ugarte?amorim tactics is mainoo issue now not the coach so he has to convince the coach in training that he is up to the task because the pressure is still on the coach too to deliver..stop making look like the coach will deliberately destroy young players as if the coach doesn't want success for the entire team..a perfect example for this mainoo issue is "amad"..amad is played out of position and he is living up to the task even Bruno too and some other players and they are doing well..so why will mainoo be exempted? is he more special than those that are played out of position?..please criticize constructively and not just picking the coach because he is not playing one person.

sometimes I fail to understand the head coach amorin, yes I understand we won 2 or 3 games in a raw but yet it doesn't mean we can win EPL. amorin is really destroying our youngest players especially kobbie maino, this boy is really good than urgate and also this formation he is using is the one making kobbie not to perform

Mainoo is young and need to take his chances when they are offered, every manager will fill only players that he thinks will give him maximum chances of good result, it is not sentiment
