Vincent Kompany gave full credit to his Bayern Munich players after they secured their 11th consecutive win in all competitions to start the 2025-26 season.

The Bundesliga champions snapped Borussia Dortmund's unbeaten start to their league campaign with a 2-1 win at Allianz Arena as Harry Kane and Michael Olise got on the scoresheet before Julian Brandt's late strike.

In-form Kane has now scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga this season. Apart from Bayern, Eintracht Frankfurt (17) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (16) are the only sides to have scored more goals as a team than the England captain on his own.

Meanwhile, Bayern's 11 competitive wins at the start of a season is a joint-record for a Bundesliga club and had previously only been achieved by Dortmund in 2015-16.

Kompany explained his immense sense of pride with how his players have begun their campaign, but does not want them to slow down ahead of a busy period.

"Credit to the team that we've won the first 11 games, but obviously I want to win the next 11 too. And then the next 11 after that," said Kompany.

"You also have to give Dortmund credit, they deserved to get back into the game in the second half. The first half was almost perfect from us, very dominant – we could've scored two or three more goals.

"Dortmund then battled in the second half. They were aggressive and, in my opinion, we played too slowly. We broke up our own rhythm.

"Nevertheless, without a cohesive team performance you don't win a game like this. It wasn't easy in the second half, but we defended pretty well and were always dangerous.

"That's the key thing for me. It's fine to have difficulties at times but you have to remain dangerous, and we were."

It was a typically brilliant performance on the ball from Joshua Kimmich, who assisted Kane's opener, while he also had the most touches of the ball (102), completed the most passes (77) and created two chances.

But aside from the three points, Kimmich was pleased with how his team-mates dug in during a difficult spell in the second half.

"It was very important to win this match – also in the manner in which we did it. I thought the first half was very, very good," he said.

"Dortmund then did better in the second half, but you could tell there was a real unity on the pitch. Even when Dortmund were on top for periods, it's not that easy to beat us. We didn't just impress with our football but also as a team.

"You saw that we dig in, that we fight against resistance. That was a very, very important win for us today."
