Paris Saint-Germain ended their Ligue 1 title-winning campaign on a high after recovering from a goal down to beat AJ Auxerre 3-1 at the Parc des Princes, claiming a third consecutive victory across all competitions in the process.
PSG secured a record-extending 13th top-flight title with a 1-0 victory over Angers six weeks ago, with what Luis Enrique will hope is the first part of an historic treble ahead of finals in the Coupe de France and UEFA Champions League respectively.
The Spaniard named a strong line-up here, and his stars were in the mood to stamp their authority early on. Marquinhos headed over from Nuno Mendes’ corner, before Ousmane Dembele was denied by Donovan Leon.
Clement Akpa was then fortunate not to concede a penalty inside the opening 20 minutes after colliding with Dembele in the box, but no spot-kick was awarded following a VAR review.
Auxerre were safely ensconced in mid-table, and Lassine Sinayoko gave the visitors a surprise 31st-minute lead.
It came with alarming simplicity from the Parisians’ perspective, as the camera panned to a frustrated-looking Enrqiue after the Malian outmaneuvered Willian Pacho from Gaetan Perrin’s through ball and dispatched his shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Mendes almost restored parity with a wicked free-kick which cannoned off the post, but the hosts trailed at half-time.
It was all one-way traffic following the restart, with Dembélé at the heart of everything going forward for the champions.
Leon was called into action once again to deny PSG’s number 10, before the forward blasted a separate attempt over the bar after being teed up by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Georgian was the one to level the scores a minute shy of the hour mark when his right-footed strike from the edge of the box flew past Leon, as the Parisians' relentless pressure eventually told.
Marquinhos completed the turnaround eight minutes later when the skipper’s header at the far post clipped in off the woodwork from Mendes’ corner.
Mendes was involved in the thick of proceedings again when the Portuguese was hauled down by Sinaly Diomande in the box.
However, Goncalo Ramos saw his subsequent penalty saved by Leon, who kept the Auxerre deficit at one.
There was still time for Kvaratskhelia to round off the scoring though, with a cool close-range finish after a superb run and pass by Senny Mayulu.
This result ensures PSG finish 19 points clear of Marseille at the top of the table, while Christophe Pélissier’s side end their campaign with a highly-respectable 11th-place finish after winning promotion as Ligue 2 champions last season.
