Kylian Mbappe was booed by onlookers as he arrived at Monday's Ballon d'Or event celebrating the world's best footballing talent in his home city of Paris.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker was heckled as he entered the Theatre du Chatelet amid reports that he wants to leave the club in January, just months after signing a new deal with the Parisians.
Mbappe's future in Paris has been the subject of intense speculation with recent reports suggesting that the 23-year-old wanted to leave the Ligue 1 champions as soon as possible and was even considering terminating his contract to do so.
Despite lifting the World Cup with France and being one of modern football's next generational talents, Mbappe was berated by locals watching superstars arrive at the glamorous event.
He was jeered by fans as he arrived with his father at the ceremony with boos audible as the Frenchman rushed his way past waiting fans, fist-bumping one person before moving further into the venue to pose for photos.
A video posted by the official Ballon d'Or Twitter account showing Mbappe arriving has been viewed over a million times, with loud boos being heard as the star makes his way down the red carpet.
Mbappe cuts an awkward figure under an umbrella as the deafening shouts follow him all the way into the theatre with the star's father joining him for photos.
Things didn't get much better for Mbappe as he placed sixth in the standings for the annual award, with Karim Benzema clinching the trophy following his stellar season with Real Madrid.
Mbappe dispelled rumours suggesting he wanted out of PSG on Sunday following his side's 1-0 league win over Marseille where he admitted he is 'happy' at the club.
'I'm very happy. I never asked for my departure in January,' he told RMC Sport.
'The info that came out on the day of the match (against Benfica) I I didn't understand. I was just as shocked as everyone else.
'There are people who may think I'm involved in this, but I'm not involved, I was taking a nap.
'My entourage was at my little brother's game, all the people who take care of me weren't there so we were flabbergasted when we heard about it.

I seem not to understand why the media and everybody are against this guy. If he didn't talk they will label him arrogant and if he decides to talk, they call him selfish. Pls, leave the boy alone. He has done nothing to deserve the embarrassment. I'm suspecting Madrid's president has a hand in all of these. poor lad, The media will destroy you without even knowing it. people will hate you for no just reason.
I always feel sorry for him. He's being attacked everyday & really i do sympathize with him. He will silence the critics at the Word cup as he did in 2018.

please keep Don Florentino Perez out of this. killian is no match to Perez compared to the kind of players he is and is still dealing with in real Madrid.
