According to the Daily Mail, Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy is considering signing Casemiro.
No one can fault Casemiro’s contribution since it was confirmed that the Brazil star will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Far from slacking off, the veteran midfielder has only emphasised his importance to United, and he produced a man-of-the-match performance with a goal and assist in the 3-2 win over Fulham.
If it wasn’t for Casemiro’s age (he turns 34 later this month) and £375,000-a-week wages, the club would no doubt have given serious consideration to triggering the 12-month extension in his contract. But he will leave as a free agent on June 30 and Confidential understands that LA Galaxy are exploring ways of signing him under the designated player rule in MLS.
Introduced when David Beckham joined the Galaxy in 2007, it enables clubs to sign star players whose salaries exceed the league salary cap.
Casemiro would become the third high-profile United player to join the Galaxy after Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, although there is bound to be interest in him from other leagues around the world including Saudi Arabia.
