Lauren James has spoken out following her sending off in England's Women's World Cup win over Nigeria on Monday that saw her shown a red card for stamping on Michelle Alozie.
Responding to a Twitter post by the Nigerian, James said: 'All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened.
'Also, for our England fans and my team-mates, playing with and for you is my greatest honour and I promise to learn from my experience.
The 21-year-old attacker was replying to Alozie's social media post where she asked for people to forgive the England ace who is facing a nervous wait to find out how many matches she will miss.
Alozie tweeted: 'Abeg, rest. we are playing on the world’s stage.
'This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments. all respect for Lauren James.

playing for england it doesn't make her white. she must remember she's black too and she'll realize after missing a penalty in final like Saka then fans will remember she's black

Not really much of an apology. Should have said sorry for what I DID, not WHAT HAPPENED. Acknowledge her action. Words mean things.
