Leroy Sane has confirmed he is in talks with Bayern Munich over extending his stay at the Allianz Arena and is reluctant to consider a return to the Premier League.
The German defender joined the Bundesliga giants in 2020 from Manchester City but has now entered the final year of his contract. That has seen Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all linked to completing a deal for the star winger after Sane appeared to have a change of heart over a contract 12 months ago.
Potential suitors will be able to enter discussions with Sane over a possible deal from January, with clubs from outside of Germany able to undertake talks with the player. They may have already received a hefty blow from the 28-year-old however, who appears set on staying at Bayern should a deal be agreed.
The ex-City ace has predominantly featured from the bench this season under Vincent Kompany but has offered 51 goals and 50 assists in 186 appearances for Bayern in all. In an interview with German newspaper BILD, Sane confirmed he was only considering a future with his current side.
"We are in talks," he said. "I feel comfortable in Munich. I feel really comfortable. Talks are very good. My focus is currently only on Bayern."
Asked about the prospect of a Premier League return, Sane made no bones about his position. "I follow Premier League football but the attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles," he added. "I have that at Bayern."
Sane will hope for more starts moving forwards however. Kompany, who played alongside the winger at the Etihad Stadium, has only started the Germany international twice this term but singled him out for praise earlier this month following victory over Benfica.
"Leroy changed the game, you could say that," said Kompany. "Leroy did very well after he was subbed on.
"I'm very happy to have the quality of Leroy Sane and Michael Olise in the same position, not to forget Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. They have all scored goals and contributed well so far this season."
Manchester United and Arsenal had been set to go head-to-head for Sane's signature but will feel set-back by Sane's latest comments. Both clubs had hoped to land proven Premier League experience with the ex-City star claiming two league titles and a PFA Young Player of the Year award during his time in the division.
