Robert Lewandowski's current deal with Bayern Munich runs until the end of the 2022/23 season, but the two parties have yet to reach a deal on his potential renewal.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has stressed that the club will do everything it takes to extend the Poland international's contract, but Lewandowski is unsure whether this is the club's real intention.
"I'm hearing that for the first time," said Lewandowski in response to a question about Salihamidzic's remarks.
Bayern Munich's contract renewal policy
Bayern Munich's contract renewal policy dictates that players over the age of 30 are offered one-year deals, but Bild have reported that an exception could be made for Lewandowski, who could be offered a two-year contract extension.
His salary would remain intact if he renews until 2024, but his wages would drop in the event he renews for two years.
Lewandowski still stands out
Meanwhile, Lewandowski isn't stopping scoring goals and receiving individual awards such as FIFA's Best Men's Player for 2021.
"I always want to show the best of me, everything else is speculation," he said after the gala.
"I have to stay calm and focus on my objectives. It's the only thing I have in my head, I don't want to think about the rest of things too much."
