Lewis-Skelly: Final two Premier League games are "finals"; midfield feels natural

Lewis-Skelly is currently focused on helping Arsenal achieve a historic "double crown," while also blocking out all speculation about his future.

Talking about the team's title contention

Despite the euphoric 1-0 dramatic victory over West Ham United on Sunday, Lewis-Skelly made it clear that now is not the time to get carried away.

He explained: "We feel joy, excitement, satisfaction – all the good feelings you can describe. We are very excited, but everyone knows the task is not yet complete.

"We now have two more (Premier League) 'finals' to play. The next game is against Burnley, and then we will continue to move forward. As a player, and also as an Arsenal fan, it is easy to imagine what might happen. But it is important that we stay focused and seize the moment."

Talking about the days when he had few opportunities to play

He added: "It was really difficult at first. But for me, I pride myself on having a strong mentality. Sports are not always smooth sailing, there are always ups and downs. How you bounce back from the lows, and how you perform in the face of adversity, that's what defines who you are.

"I talked to my family and friends, and I told them: 'I don't want to hear any noise from social media. Let me stay in this state, continue to face difficulties head-on, until I get out of this situation.'

"For me, the key is to be ready at all times, always prepare for the game like a starting player - because you never know when your moment will come. Fortunately, my opportunity came against Fulham. I feel like I seized the opportunity and helped the team as much as possible.

"Playing in the midfield position is natural for me. I have been training a lot in that position, so when I went on the field, I felt comfortable and felt like I seized the opportunity."

Talking about his future

In his opinion, now is not the time to discuss these kinds of issues. He concluded: "I'm focused on the upcoming games and dedicated to bringing this club back to its peak glory."
