Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Monday night as Darwin Nunez saw red.
Match Report
The away side took the lead in the first half after a quick breakaway and a Wilfried Zaha finish. Nunez then got sent off in the 57th minute after a headbutt.
It was immediately followed by a solo strike from Luis Diaz that rescued a point for Jurgen Klopp's side.
Liverpool were the much stronger side in the first half as they tend to be at Anfield against almost any opposition but it was Palace that took the lead.
Eberechi Eze picked up the ball in the midfield and danced around Fabinho. He then spotted that Zaha had got a yard on Virgil van Dijk and he played a perfect low pass through to the Ivorian.
The former Manchester United man was bearing down on Alisson's goal and then finished superbly into the far bottom corner.
As Liverpool were trying to mount a comeback, there was a moment of madness from Nunez. The striker was provoked by Palace defender Joachim Andersen and the Uruguayan pushed his head into the face of the defender. He was shown a straight red card.
Almost immediately after the red card, Diaz went on a mazy run from the left and fired a superb strike into the net from distance to make it 1-1.
Despite being down to 10 players, Liverpool were the team on the ascendancy. Palace very nearly retook the lead though in the 77th minute as Zaha hit the post when stretching for a cross at the far post.
Liverpool's next match will be away at a Manchester United side who have lost their first two games of the season.
Crystal Palace will be at home to Aston Villa next weekend instead.
