Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino were on target as Liverpool eased to a 2-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Porto.
The Portuguese champions had revenge on the mind after being dumped out by Jurgen Klopp's side in the last 16 of last year's competition but a disappointing first-half performance has given them an almighty task in next week's return fixture at the Estadio do Dragao.
Keita's second goal in less than a week got the Reds up and running after just five minutes before Firmino added a simple second in the 26th minute.
Liverpool did most of the pressing in the second half – Sadio Mane coming closest from long range – but they were unable to find a third that would have all but ended the tie as a contest.

finally we got a clean sheer after 6 games..we really wanted a team like this...this mid field was best...they were winning balls also they were giving chances to the front 3..the dfns was like always...bad to watch Salah missed a golden chance but he was playing awesome today...surely we' going to beat Blues at Anfield❤

Finally Henderson is back to his best position. He was never a DM which he was forced to be under Klopp, but a box to box player who can influence the game from everywhere on the pitch. Did brilliantly against Southampton and today he was even better. So happy for our captain!

Looking at Liverpool fans' expectations and the way Liverpool started the game one would have thought Porto were going to be mauled like 4, 5 goals to nil. That's why at the knock out stages of this competition you don't underestimate any opposition. We forget that Porto have won the UCL before and that Ajax wounded knocked out all- time leaders Real Madrid this season. The good news for the Reds is that Porto didn't manage to get an away goal otherwise the second leg would have been a nervy one for them. Congrats to Liverpool, but they themselves know that they are never in a comfortable situation they cannot afford to entertain a minute slumber.

What a moment for Keita, scoring his first goal for Liverpool in the champions league. I can see he is slowly developing under Klopp and can become a crucial player for Liverpool. Messing around with the ‘hand ball’ rule made things worse. Back to basics: the active ingredient of that offense is intent. Think about it: Could anyone have intelligently intended the rule to punish a player who could not have avoided being hit on the arm or hand? Many things in life — and in law — depend on a determination of intent. It is NOT ‘subjective’ or ‘ambiguous. It IS a judgment call, that’s all.
