Arne Slot's future as Liverpool boss is up in the air
Liverpool boss Arne Slot is fighting for his future at Anfield and it could all hinge on whether he can qualify for the Champions League next season. The Reds sit four points ahead of Bournemouth, who have a game in hand.
Liverpool have a lot more problems than that to sort this summer too with a many areas of the squad needing reinforcements.
Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest Liverpool news and rumours
Slot in big trouble
Liverpool boss Slot could be in big trouble as his odds of being the next Premier League manager sacked have tumbled to 2/1 - he is now the clear favourite, ahead of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
The Reds' 4-2 loss to Aston Villa on Friday night leaves them in serious danger of missing out on Champions League football next season.
If Liverpool fail to finish in the top five of the Premier League table, Slot may not be able to hang on to his job.
Xabi Alonso remains the favourite with the bookmakers to replace Slot, despite strong reports suggesting the ex-Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid manager is heading to Chelsea.
Luis Enrique, Andoni Iraola and Julian Nagelsmann are also ranked highly by the bookies.
FSG get direct message
Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt has directly responded to Liverpool's apparent interest in his signature. Sporting director Richard Hughes is said to be monitoring the Danish international ever more closely over the past few weeks, along with a number of Premier League rivals.
Froholdt has been directly asked about Liverpool's interest but when faced with the speculation he said: "I am happy to see people following me and to know the fans appreciate my work. I focus on the feedback I receive from the coaches, from the team and on the things I can do on the pitch.
"Now I keep everything else away from where I am, because I am here playing for FC Porto and I am not focused on anything else."
However, Froholdt kept the door ajar with a cryptic message to Hughes adding: "Obviously I have dreams. I love playing here at FC Porto, but I also dream of playing for some of the best clubs in the world."

Slot is a complete failure..... He acted on the shadow of the former coach last season and failed completely when the shadow failed off. His own light cannot ignite..... He is not a Coach.

Slot is a wasteful coach, instead of recalling Elliott in January when your team has injury worries and not doing well but you allow such a talented player, FIFA under 21 MVP to waste, Slot must go out of Liverpool at the end of this season, simple.
