Liverpool will bid farewell to two club heroes in Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson with another rebuild billed
While Liverpool and Arne Slot battle for the remaining six games to qualify for next season's Champions League, there will be another rebuild off the pitch with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson leaving the club. The Reds will bid farewell to their Premier League and Champions League-winning stars at the end of the season when their contracts expire.
The Egyptian's departure comes one year into his two-year contract after representatives of the player and the club reached an agreement to part ways. Salah brings the curtain down on a trophy-laden nine years on Merseyside, having single-handedly fired Liverpool to a second top-flight crown in five years last season. The Reds fought to keep Salah in recent years following the emergence of Saudi Arabian football, which saw an influx of talent from Europe make the lucrative move.
Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Robertson after their January efforts failed. But the Scotland captain will be the latest high-profile departure from Liverpool after a string of players departed Anfield on a free transfer, as the latest exiting duo will see Liverpool's losses from potential transfer fees.
There could also be another high-profile exit from Liverpool this summer as Ibrahima Konate's future remains unsolved. The France international will become a free agent in the summer should the respective parties fail to reach an agreement over an extension.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 26-year-old, while there have been conflicting reports about Konate's future, it has been said that the central defender could pen an extension on Merseyside.

Transfermarkt uses its data to calculate market values of players, and from around the time of the Liverpool contingents' respective moves, the Reds have missed out on significant fees.
Salah's impending departure will see him leave 12 months after his Player of the Season-winning showing. Transfermarkt figures show that the Liverpool star is worth in the region of £26million, while Robertson is valued around £8.7million.
Trent Alexander-Arnold's exit is one of the most debated moves in recent history after the Liverpool academy graduate left the club for Real Madrid last season. The full-back was one of three, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Salah, who were out of contract at the end of their title-winning campaign.
The England international ran down his contract at Anfield in a highly-publicised fallout. Los Blancos paid £10m to release the full-back from his contract early and have him in the building in time for the Club World Cup in North America.
The fee marked a loss of around £55m with Alexander-Arnold's valuation around the time of his departure at £65m. Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum are among the names in the last five years to depart on a free.
Firmino brought his successful time at Anfield to an end as he received a heroic ovation on his way out of Merseyside. The Brazilian, then 31, left on a free transfer after his contract wasn't renewed before joining the Saudi Pro League exodus, he left while he was valued around £15.7million.
Meanwhile, an injury-hit five years for Keita saw him depart for Germany but for Wijnaldum, his Liverpool exit was somewhat controversial as he later revealed his feelings about being 'unloved' after joining PSG on a free, while he was valued in the region of £26m.
He said: "There was a moment when I didn't feel loved and appreciated. Not my teammates, not the people at Melwood [training ground].
"From them I know, I can say they all love me and I love them. It was not from that side. More the other side." He added: "I have to say also there was social media. When it went bad, I was the player who they blamed, that I wanted to leave.
"Every day in training and in the games, I gave everything I had to bring it to a good end because, during the years, Liverpool meant so much to me and because of the way the fans in the stadium were treating me.
"My feeling was that the fans in the stadium and the fans on social media were two different kinds. The fans in the stadium always supported me. Even when they came back [after the COVID-19 break], already knowing that I was going to leave, they still supported me and, in the end, they gave me a great farewell.
"On social media, if we lost, I was the one who got the blame. There was a moment when I was like: 'Wow. If they only knew what I was doing to stay fit and play every game.' Other players might have said: 'OK, I am not fit.' You get players in their last year who are like: 'I'm not playing because it is a risk.' I did the opposite."
