Football fans made their feelings known as Liverpool benefited from two tight VAR calls in the first half of their Champions League match away to Paris Saint-Germain.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia thought he had given the French side around 20 minutes in when he collected the ball and curled into the far corner of Alisson's net. The home side's celebrations were quickly cut short, though, with the Georgian having strayed offside by the finest of margins.
The hosts also felt Ibrahima Konate should have been sent off for a last man foul on Bradley Barcola. On-field referee Davide Massa didn't give a foul in real time, though, and VAR opted against overruling the Italian.
PSG also missed a number of chances to take the lead during a scoreless first half, with Barcola and Joao Neves among those fire off target when well-placed. On social media, though, those two marginal calls provided the main talking points.
"Two enormous VAR calls, both incredibly close, both going Liverpool’s way," one wrote. "I don’t know what rabbit foot Arne Slot rubbed but their luck this season is outrageous."
"Looks like refs are having a shocker across Europe, then, not just against your EPL team," wrote another. "Clear foul by Konate. Should not need VAR for that, sorry."
"Only one team can get away with this. The team that just did," claimed a third. Another gave an even more straightforward response, saying: "PSG robbed"
"That is a foul. The push is in the back, so it's a foul," Rio Ferdinand said during TNT Sports' live coverage of the match. "If that's not a red card I'll be amazed."
While the Konate decision was open to interpretation - even if many disagreed with the officials' conclusions - it was a different story with the disallowed goal. Kvaratskhelia was only slightly off, but as far as the rules are concerned it was the same of being a few yards behind the last defender.
"What a break that is," co-commentator Ally McCoist said."We knew it was tight. It is almost criminal to disallow that, it was such a good finish. But if it's offside, it's offside."

Law is law. What makes the universe unique is law. The rule is not here to please someone's emotional view. It is a fact that holds the laws. Those people that are saying rubbish about this disallowed goal, they have to find an area to quest their frustrations. Liverpool did not win this by luck as it was insinuated by frustrating fans. Liverpool played the game with a maturity system and it works well. We are going to win this league. Ferdinand should be thinking about his struggling Man UTD team instance.
