Liverpool secure astonishing EIGHT-FIGURE transfer fee for TAA to join Real

Liverpool have secured a mega £10million fee from Real Madrid for Trent Alexander-Arnold to join them early.

Mail Sport revealed in March that Real wanted the right back early to play in the Club World Cup.

Their initial offer was £850,000 to get him ahead of his contract expiring at the end of June.

But despite already playing his last game for Liverpool and effectively being on holiday now, the Premier League champions will get £10m.

Real kick off their Club World Cup campaign on June 18 and Alexander-Arnold will be officially unveiled as their player before that.

The deal will go through on Sunday when the transfer window officially opens.

Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a wholesome goodbye to the club he has served for 20 years, despite facing boos and criticism in recent times.

He called the Premier League trophy parade around Liverpool the 'perfect send-off' and looked emotional as he held the silverware high on top of the bus.

'Perfect send off. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I love my city,' he wrote.

He was given also given a warm reception at Anfield on Sunday and described celbrating the title in front of fans as the 'best day of his life'. He was overcome with tears at full time after their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Supporters welcomed him with widespread cheer and applause as he replaced Conor Bradley at half-time and gave him similar adoration as he did a lap of the crowd at the finale.

Alexander-Arnold struggled to hold back the tears as he spoke to Sky Sports and the floodgates opened as he embraced his mum Dianne and dad Michael, with his brothers joining them on the pitch.

'I didn't know what to expect stepping out at Anfield today after what had happened,' he admitted.

'But I wanted to play for the club one more time, I told the manager, and he trusted me. The reception I got means so much to me. I have never felt more loved and more cared for than today.

'I hope that one day the fans and supporters of this club are able to recognise the hard work I put in for this team.

'From six to 26, 20 years is a very long time. I have loved every second of it, it has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of this club.

'I'll remember these moments for the rest of my life. This day will go down as the best in my life.'

Xabi Alonso, who has been confirmed as Carlo Ancelotti's successor on a three-year deal, wanted Alexander-Arnold through the door early.

This Club World Cup means more than most as it is the first in the revamped format with 32 teams.
