Liverpool transfer news: Fresh interest in Darwin Nunez as 3 youths face exit

AC Milan are the latest big club being linked with a move for Darwin Nunez, who Liverpool remain willing to sell for the right price during Arne Slot's summer rebuild

Liverpool face Athletic Bilbao twice tonight with Arne Slot's entire squad set to be handed some minutes ahead of next weekend's FA Community Shield against Crystal Palace at Wembley.

But all the focus for now remains on whether they can bring in Alexander Isak from Newcastle. A deal of £110m has been rejected by the Toon, who want significantly more for their star striker because he has three years to run on his contract. He was also set to return to the North East from Spain over the weekend.

And while Liverpool have already spent close to £300m on new signings they are under no PSR pressure having already sold several fringe members of the squad while commercial and matchday revenues have grown substantially.

Here are the transfer stories worth keeping an eye on as the new season rapidly approaches

Darwin departure?

AC Milan have made contact with the representatives of Darwin Nunez as they eye a deal for the Liverpool forward. The Italian giants are said to have made the Uruguay international their top target for the final weeks of the transfer window.

Nunez has been widely expected to leave Anfield this summer and the arrival of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz would appear to have left him further down Arne Slot's pecking order. Liverpool retain an interest in Newcastle star Alexander Isak too and have seen a bid turned down for the Premier League striker.

If the Reds are successful in landing the Sweden star, Nunez's position would appear to be even more untenable. But thus far, Liverpool have not been able to find an agreement with any suitors for the former Benfica forward's signature.

Three youngsters to go

Liverpool could let three youngsters leave the club this summer as Luca Stephenson, James McConnell and Lewis Koumas gain interest from a number of teams.

And the Premier League champions are open to sanctioning more exits for some young players as manager Arne Slot continues to overhaul his squad to keep it in fighting contention for the Premier League title once again.

Stephenson has featured in pre-season under Slot and has impressed Slot after being included in the pre-season tour to Asia, but he has interest from Dundee United , Swansea, Reading, Rotherham and Cardiff over a loan move.

Past target's Spurs interest

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up a player who almost moved to Liverpool, as they now look to replace Son Heung-Min. The legendary Spurs forward dropped the bombshell announcement on Saturday that he had made the decision to leave north London.

Thomas Frank, while disappointed at the annoucement, will now have to quickly turn his attention to bolstering his frontline, with Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani reportedly at the top of his list.

The France international was of interest to Spurs in January, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he scored 10 goals in 22 appearances. He has also courted many suitors in the past, not least the Reds.
