Liverpool have begun contract talks with Luis Diaz amid talk of the Colombian leaving Anfield whilst the Reds have laid out their financial demands of Harvey Elliott

Any mention of Liverpool and transfers has centred around exits for months - and Trent Alexander-Arnold will depart the club this summer after running down his contract. He recently confirmed his exit with Real Madrid waiting in the wings.

The Reds have been able to retain Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, which has saved them millions had they needed to replace the pair. Arne Slot enjoyed a quiet first summer as boss but now, with the pull of Premier League champions, they are expected to be far more active.

Slot has worked with a very small pool of players this term and he's tipped to add more depth to his squad, especially if Liverpool are to fight on several fronts next season.

More bodies in midfield, a frontman to ease the load on Salah and potentially reinforcements in the defensive line are all on the shortlist as we bring you the latest news from Anfield.

Van Dijk nails colours to mast amid Trent fallout

Alexander-Arnold is into the final weeks of his Liverpool career with his switch to Real a matter of if, rather than when. His decision to quit Anfield has not been universally well received and he was met with boos when he came off the bench on Sunday. His captain confessed he was "gutted" to see him leave and that fans were ultimately entitled to voice their opinions.

Van Dijk said: “It's not easy, not at all. We're here for him but I think the manager said it pretty well. You can't decide how anyone's feelings are based on this decision. He made his decision and he had peace with it. We all have to deal with it. We are gutted that he's not here with us next year because he's a fantastic player in my opinion."

The Dutchman, who remains at the peak of his powers, signed a new deal recently following months of speculation and has reiterated his happiness at Anfield. “Liverpool is the place for me,” he said.

Diaz to enter contract talks

Luis Diaz has confessed that talks over a new deal at Anfield will begin this summer amid reports of a move to Barcelona or Saudi Arabia. The Colombian signed for the Reds in January 2022 and has shown, in moments, that he can be hugely influential.

However, with so many attacking options available to Slot, there had been talk of his departure but Diaz himself is ready to come to the negotiation table with the club and underlined how much he's still enjoying life in England.

“Since the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team,” he told Colombian news outlet Telemundo Deportes.

“We’ll be talking about it [about renewing], we’ll talk about it. For me, I’d stay however many years it takes. It also depends on the club, everything. These are details that are worked out separately. But I’m very calm, happy and enjoying the Premier League.”

Elliott's suitors

Five Premier League clubs are interested in signing Harvey Elliott this summer, according to Caught Offside. The ex-Fulham man has been largely a squad player at Anfield with Slot using him as an impact sub, if at all.

Wolves, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are monitoring the player. If Liverpool do part with Elliott they are likely to demand a fee of around £40million-£50m. However it is understood that the Reds' demand could drop significantly if their asking price puts off suitors and a lack of bids materialise.
