Liverpool transfer roundup: Reds learn Diego Carlos asking price, Thiago preference

Liverpool’s transfer business has been quiet so far compared to the other top Premier League sides.

Manchester City have announced the signing of winger Ferran Torres and centre-back Nathan Ake, while Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Jadon Sancho, although no official fee has been agreed between the top clubs.

Chelsea have already been active with the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, as well as the possible arrival of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.

With that in mind, Reds supporters will be eager to hear of any transfer news at Anfield as they look to strengthen ahead of the new season.

However, 196 points over the last two Premier League campaigns indicates there is very little for Jurgen Klopp to change.

Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.

Thiago ‘would prefer’ PSG transfer over Liverpool

Thiago Alcantara would reportedly prefer a move to Paris Saint-Germain over Liverpool this summer.

Thiago has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks but reports in Germany suggest the Bayern Munich midfielder would rather move to the French capital.

It is believed that PSG have recently entered the running to sign the 29-year-old this summer with just one year remaining on his contract at Bayern Munich, and the report further states that he would like to play alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

It remains a possibility that the Reds will make a move for him.

Liverpool keen on highly-rated Norwich left-back

Liverpool are interested in signing young left-back Jamal Lewis from relegated Norwich City this summer.

Klopp is keen on a move for the 22-year-old, who impressed for Daniel Farke’s side last season.

Despite the Canaries' relegation to the Championship, the Reds are believed to hold Lewis in high regard.

Liverpool signed Andy Robertson from relegated Hull City back in 2017 and a move for Lewis could replicate a similar pathway as long as he is willing to play back-up to the Scotland international.

However, while Liverpool are willing to pay around £8million, Norwich are believed to be holding out for £20m.

Huge fee to sign reported transfer target

Liverpool would have to pay up to £68m to sign reported transfer target Diego Carlos from Sevilla this summer.

The Reds are believed to be in the market for a central defender following the departure of Dejan Lovren but the Sevilla's player’s release clause is likely to put them off.

Spanish news outlet AS report that a fee of nearly £70m would be needed to sign the centre back, with Sevilla not interested in engaging with negotiations this summer.

Considering Liverpool sold Lovren for around £10million, plucking up such a high fee for Carlos appears unlikely and the Reds will probably look elsewhere.
