Liverpool are hoping to improve on last season's FA Cup campaign by progressing to the fifth round with a win against Cardiff on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's team were eliminated at this stage last term when they lost to Manchester United, but they are expected to overcome the Welsh side sitting 20th in the Championship.

Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi have returned to training with the first team but Jurgen Klopp is unsure if either will be ready to feature against Cardiff.

Naby Keita is also fit again and could make his return this weekend and Harvey Elliott, 18, is back in the squad and expected to play.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are still at the Africa Cup of Nations, while the likes of Alisson, Fabinho and new signing Luis Diaz came back late from international duty and may be left out.

After making it through almost two whole months of bad results, Cardiff have bounced back a bit since November but remain inconsistent in the Championship.

They are on a two-game winning run, however, which will provide them with a bit of a boost heading into this match.

Liverpool, though, have had a strong season, having lost just twice in all competitions. Their last loss came against Leicester in December.

In the six weeks since then they have avoided defeat against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.
