Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been given a 20-month driving ban and a £50,000 fine after admitting to driving while drunk.
The Spurs stopper was twice the legal limit when stopped in his car, and on Wednesday admitted the charge of drink driving.
Lloris is currently his club's captain, and was pulled over by police on August 24.
The court heard that the goalkeeper provided a breath sample containing 80 microgammes of alcohol. The legal limit in both England and Wales is 35.
Henry Fitch, prosecuting, told the court that police saw Lloris driving at 15mph in a 30mph zone, and veering towards parked cars.
Vomit was discovered within the car, and Lloris had to be helped from the vehicle by officers.
Lloris told his legal representative that he was aware he should have taken a taxi, but that he made the worst decision due to his intoxication.
The 31-year-old has been a regular for Spurs since joining the club from Lyon in 2012, making over 250 appearances for the club.
He captained France to World Cup glory in the summer, and has won 104 caps for Les Bleus.
Though he played in goal for Tottenham after his initial arrest, during the club's 3-0 win over Manchester United, he was left out of the squad to face Watford due to injury.

He kinda deserves the ban? I mean, 20 months is a long time. But drink driving is a serious offence and a lot of young people look up to him.

He admitted his mistake and thankfully no one was injured or killed. £50,000 and 18 month ban is excessive but warranted. We move on simple as we all make mistakes in life and sadly he has made his. I hope he is fit for Saturday we need him for the Liverpool game.

Wow! These are things you hardly see in my corner of the world. I remembered a number of instances where drivers have seriously maimed or killed people and the last time I checked, they were back behind their wheels blazing more than before. Honestly, we have very long time to catch up. Sorry, Lloris, if you were in my country, no one would notice or care much even if you drank a barrel of the Vodka.

I don’t think anyone on this forum would say 20 months was too long if it was their child that had been run over and killed by him while obviously drunk! Far too much money and arrogance..... sure he made a mistake.... (the idiot) but it could have cost a life! He got away lightly for sure. And what’s £50k to him, bugger all.
