Luis Enrique: It is 'impossible' for PSG to relax in the Champions League

Luis Enrique warned Paris Saint-Germain against getting complacent despite their three-goal advantage over Chelsea in the Champions League last-16.

PSG ran out 5-2 winners over the Blues in the first leg, but it had been a tight match until the final 16 minutes, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia coming on to make a late impact.

Tied at 2-2, the Georgian set up Vitinha to give PSG the lead for the third time, and they held onto it thanks to a double from Kvaratskhelia.

This was the sixth occasion of a French side winning a two-legged Champions League knockout-stage tie by at least three goals, with four of the previous five progressing.

And while Luis Enrique is happy to have such a strong lead ahead of the second leg, he is determined to see the reigning champions finish off the job.

"Playing and managing these matches is always different," he said.

"For us, as a team and reigning champions, we try to focus on the important things and details, because that's always important when you play against a team of the same level.

"We have an advantage, but we know it can disappear in an instant.

"In the Champions League, it's impossible [to relax]. Chelsea will have the ability to create chances, but it's impossible to let your guard down in the Champions League.

"You have to be able to take advantage of moments of suffering to change the momentum. These are matches impossible to control. It's likely to be different from the first leg."

PSG have won 66.7% of their Champions League knockout-stage games under Luis Enrique (12/18) and are assigned a 94% chance of reaching the quarter-finals by the Opta supercomputer in its tournament simulations.

And their recent success in UEFA's flagship competition has come at the expense of teams in the Premier League.

The Parisiens are unbeaten in their last five games against English teams in the Champions League (W4 D1), and could go six in a row without defeat against them in the competition for the first time here.

PSG are also looking to progress from their fourth consecutive knockout stage tie against English opponents (previously v Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal last season).

"My joke about winning against the Premier League teams follows me everywhere," Luis Enrique added.

"It's a pleasure to play against English clubs because it's the top level.

"Last year we played against almost all the English clubs, and it's almost the same this year. But it was a joke, we respect everyone."
