Born in Zadar, Modric's childhood coincided with the Croatian War of Independence which displaced his family. In 2008, he moved to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record transfer fee of £16.5 million, where he led Spurs to their first UEFA Champions League appearance in almost 50 years, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2010–11 tournament. In the summer of 2012, Modric joined Real Madrid for a £30 million transfer fee, where he became a key contributor for Madrid's 4 UCL trophies in 5 years.

Modric is good midfielder but never among the best even currently playing like de bruyne as an example is 100 times better than him in every aspect of the game. Likewise there are 10-20 midfielders better than Modric. We all agree that if Ronaldo played for Madrid still , no doubt he had won ballon d'or. Modric doesn't even deserve WC golden ball.

Modric has had a incredible performance in 2017/18 season. He deserves the ballon dor and FIFA men's best player but not the uefa CL best player. Needless to say cr7 should have won it.

It pains me why people jealous him about winning ballon d'or. Football is nt about score goals only and now things has started changing becos way back ago 1991 coming. we take those players who makes more impact and influence the ball and is not where by standing one position and scoring. Football has spoiled it's credibility so when you stand one's place and you score goal or goals, definitely you are going to vote for player of the match and not know that,is a certain player who work on the field of the ball for he to score. Let look way back Ronaldinho and Eto, who scored more goals when they played together at Barcelona? Zinedine Zidane,Figo and Raul , who scored more goals when they were played together at Real Madrid and it was Raul who scored mostly goals but he was not win ballon d'or before and it was the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Figo who got the chance to win it because they are the engine of that particular team. So all what I will say is that, is not scoring goals to assist the performance of the player but how the player using the ball to; by creating chances, Assist the ball for scoring, dribbling , passing accurate, pace , holding or controlling and influence the ball. So make your analysis well for choosing a better player.
