It was written off as a foregone conclusion - but Manchester United produced a heroic performance to dump PSG out of the Champions League.
An injury-ravaged United squad travelled to face Paris without ten first team players, but caused a huge upset.
Two first half goals from Romelu Lukaku put them in a promising position, despite Juan Bernat scoring for the hosts.
As the game wore it looked like United would fall valiantly short, before VAR controversy awarded them a spot kick at the death.
Presnel Kimpembe was adjudged to have handled in the box, allowing Marcus Rashford the chance to slam home a late winner.
Here are the talking points...
Heroic United shock Europe
Most had written off United's chances of progressing any further after the damaging first leg defeat at Old Trafford.
But a valiant effort from Solskjaer's side took them within a whisker, before Rashford's penalty earned them the win.
United were without nine injured players, whilst Paul Pogba was missing with suspension.
That prompted Solskjaer to go with a midfielder three of Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira and Fred, whilst his bench was packed full of youth team players.
And against all odds the Red Devils still progressed with one of the historic results in their history.
Red Rom
For all his troubles under previous boss Jose Mourinho, Romelu Lukaku is back!
The Belgian forward has been on a rich vein of scoring form of late, and carried it on against PSG.
Lukaku reacted quickly to pounce on a poor backpass from Thilo Kehrer, before rounding Gianluigi Buffon and putting them ahead after less than two minutes.
He then added a second, following up Marcus Rashford's fumbled effort to restore their lead.
There were concerns over whether the Β£90 million man would fit into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans during the early stages of his tenure.
However there are no such fears now, with Lukaku looking rejuvenated and full of confidence - which can only be good for the Red Devils.
PSG falter again
PSG dominated the tie over two legs, but still failed to qualify for the next round as the Champions League continues to elude them.
Even without Neymar, and with Edinson Cavani on the bench, they were a constant threat going forward.
The club boast some of the hottest talents in world football, and with the added experience of Gianluigi Buffon had a real chance of going all the way.
But a big concern for Thomas Tuchel will be the sloppy mistakes at the back which twice allowed United in to score.
It is moments like that that have cost the French side in this competition down the years, and they'll be devastated to miss out once again.
More VAR controversy
Not for the first time, VAR had the final say in proceedings as a late call awarded Manchester United a controversial penalty.
As United chased a late winner, Diogo Dalot fired a shot at goal which appeared to strike Presnel Kimpembe's arm as he blocked the shot.
Kimpembe couldn't do much to get his arm out of the way of the shot, and even had his back turned on the ball - but it mattered little.
After reviewing the decision, referee Damir Skomina pointed to the spot to the despair of the PSG players.
Marcus Rashford duly stepped up to smash the penalty past Buffon and fire United into the last eight - with VAR grabbing the assist.
Fred played
The subheading perhaps explains all you need to know - as forgotten man Fred started for United and did, well, ok.
He's not had the best of times since his Β£52m move from Shakhtar Donetsk, and probably wouldn't have featured in a game of this magnitude under usual circumstances.
However the Brazilian didn't have a bad game in the centre of the park, particularly when you consider the standard of their opponents.
Whether we're likely to see more of him in a United shirt we're unsure - but fans of the club were quick to sing his praises.
But he played his part in a huge win, and certainly done his chances no harm.
Youth in abundance
Alan Hansen once famously (and falsely) claimed Manchester United would "win nothing with kids."
And whilst we're not suggesting the youngsters that filled United's bench in Paris are the next Class of '92, the future certainly looks bright.
With injuries having ravaged his squad, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had little choice but to select several youngsters in his squad for the tie.
17-year-olds Mason Greenwood and James Garner were joined amongst the substitutes by fellow academy products Angel Gomes (18) and Tanith Chong (19).
Even one of the more seasoned pro's on the bench, Diogo Dalot, is still just 19.
Solskjaer could have perhaps done with more experienced options as he introduced Chong late on, before handing Greenwood his debut.
But his faith in the youngsters was rewarded, and they'll remember this night for a long time to come.

PSG LOST OUT OF OVER CONFIDENCE & CASUAL PLAY: Any expert would analyse the game played this way today. Except for the first 15 to 20 minutes PSG looked like minnows loosing their normal tempo and high pressing attitude. Besides they looked too casual. Maybe started to count chickens before being hatched. Dani Alves was all smiles till the end. There was nobody to feed Mbappe who was well marked by two defenders till the end. What a game plan by Utd Coach. It all began with Theurer error who back passed without looking that got converted to the first goal by Lukaku. Second error by experienced buffon. Actually these days there is trend to punch out the incoming ball instead of catching it...which we use to see in golden eras of football way back by keepers like Black Octupus. So this paid the price. The 3rd goal from penalty was right from VAR. Ofcourse Kimbempe looked before he jumped and put his hand down. If he hadnt then would be decided differently. Just cant blame somebody or something always. Young people must learn to understand, cope up and make corrections in their journeys be it any field. Here PSG solely lost due to over confidence and casual play. My my being casual in UCL.,so next time dont dream about it. Forget making false dreams, sad faces and curse & blame others. Accept your mistakes and casualness and learn from it. Secondly, certain lessons are learnt from belief..but these the youngs dont listen or care about it. Real Madrid loss in their own ground could have taught something..but no one cared or pondered about it. Belief. Period. Lastly it is proven, PSG in big games are nothing or just ordinary without Nemar Jr. What did golden boy and future Ballon D Or Mbappe do today. He was overbooked. Things would surely have been different if Neymar was present coz he can never be overbooked as he dribbles past the whole team if he wants to. But in end fate decides everything and PSG lost in disgrace in their own home ground. Neymar was suppose party around in Brazil carnival today. Maybe God made him pay his price too. 2 UCLS and one World Cup already washed away for him. Not much time left for accolades now. Besides injuries and failures at PSG shows signs that the club is unlucky for him or maybe Neymar is unlucky for the club. Change directions. BELIEF. Period.

OMG! Relax! I am very excited about United's turnaround as well, but please let's not make it more than what it is. There were no "heroics"...this was more about PSG gifting their spot than United earning it. United defence was hopeless, and they barely kept the ball...This was no performance to brag about. Granted that they were without some key players, and granted United's intent was a delight to watch, but really there was no one from United who looked like scoring unless it's a horrible blunder. So, yes, I am excited about United's win, but let's not make this seem like it was United who pulled the rabbit out of the hat...it was PSG.

Tahith Chong-barely played less than 20mins at senior level for united, never played in the champions league, Gunnar-played less than 7mins at senior level for united and never played in champions league, Fred barely played in champions league, Mctominay never played in champions league, Pereira never played in champions league, Dalot barely played in champions league. We had the most inexperienced players in this game yesterday, the youngest side of the two, technically lacking and yet the coach just figured a way to make a team of hungry lads who went there knowing they will be out played but still gave the game there all and they came out victorious. The difference between heart and skill had been shown. I could see Mbape often giving that grim on his face, confidence they will have a walk over victory and rashford had the last laugh.

Killian Mbappe is just overrated . He has one skill and plenty of speed, I watched him twice leave the ball behind yesterday. The media are just bent on making a big name for him when he has acheived nothing will play a big part in stopping his full development. There are a lot of his age mates who are hardly mentioned with such adoration who are doing far much better than him. The media are hiding right now. Mbappe fluffed glorious chances to get PSG through to the next round. Yes there were defensive blunders but if he had converted just one chance his team would have won. players who are liked by the media Moguls are hardly criticised ,no matter how mediocre they are, Maybe lets just criticize De Maria or Dani Alves then .

1. PSG need to fire their coach ASAP....the guy thinks like Sarri. Mbape was under performing most of the time.....losing a lot of good chances and blaming his boots. The coach just was watched on.....Cavani would have done better. Second half Mbape should have substituted. 2. The tactics deployed. All PSG needed was a draw or lose by 1:0 But they went on full scale attacking while Man U played like they were the ones holding on to the lead. PSG was actually supposed to park the bus while Man U attacks and attacks! Poor tactics lost them the game. 3.VAR ....Is now questionable. A player who jumps in the air to block the shot with his full body turned and arms in very normal position. His silhouette very normal.....if the ball hits his Hand there is no way it can be a penalty! Okay VAR is okay but the Ref got it wrong! You never award cheap penalties like that in crucial games! That was unbelievable. Am no Man u or PSG Fan but that was Man U playing with 12th Man. The ref sold the game!!

Good point Man, but still this is the champions league, you don't have to play the best you just need to get the job done. PSG Had 73% possession and still lost. United played with spirit in lieu of the difference in class. I mean it was like kids against Mercenaries. Do you remember how Chelsea won their only UCL Cup. It Was like Di matter dragged them over the line, their stats were nothing to be proud of. but in spite of that they won. This is football, and United totally deserve it. it's also ok for us to dream even with the low level of players we have, We are Fans and that's what we do, and You Should know This is The Theatre of Dreams

These are the types of game's that win cups. It's not the fault of the United players that PSG made a lot of sloppy mistakes. This just shows that United wanted it more than the Paris club. And remember PSG was home , they should have capitalised on their home advantage. So brother, praises or not. This was a great performance from the United squad and it deserves all the praise. Unfortunately we did not pull the rabbit out of the hat, because PSG was the rabbit. And they are out.
