Nick Woltemade scored twice as Germany eventually overcame Luxembourg 2-0 in World Cup qualifying on Friday.
Match Report
The Newcastle United striker netted two second-half goals at Stade de Luxembourg, where Julian Nagelsmann's side secured a top-two finish in Group A.
Luxembourg had lost all of their four previous competitive meetings with Germany, but went close to breaking the deadlock during the first half, with Daniel Sinani and Aiman Dardari seeing efforts go just wide of the target.
Serge Gnabry also fired narrowly wide from close range at the other end, but the visitors eventually made the breakthrough four minutes after the break. Leroy Sane led a swift counter before crossing for Woltemade to apply the finishing touch.
Dardari dragged a great opportunity to equalise wide soon after, before Germany put the contest to bed in the 69th minute, with Ridle Baku setting up Woltemade for his second goal of the day.
Sane rattled the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area later on, but the two-goal buffer was more than enough for Germany to see out for three points.
Data Debrief: Luxembourg losing streak goes on
Germany have now registered three successive clean sheets, their longest run of games without conceding since a streak of four between September and November 2016.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg have lost their last six World Cup qualifying matches, their longest streak since at least 2010.
The Red Lions have also failed to score in their last four such games. They last had a longer run without finding the net between October 2008 and October 2009 (six).
They failed to convert any of their seven shots against Germany, producing 0.78 expected goals (xG), while Germany accumulated 1.82 from 14 attempts.
