Barcelona slumped to a fourth draw in five matches across all competitions as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate away to Lyon in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
Ernesto Valverde's men were far from their intense best and were particularly wasteful in front of goal, as Lionel Messi struggled to produce the kind of match-winning display many have come to expect every time he takes to the pitch.
Barca generally controlled the entertaining first half and created some promising opportunities, but were it not for two excellent early saves from Marc-Andre ter Stegen they could have found themselves trailing.

two one dimensional. all we do is either pass to messi and let him do his thing or pass to jordi alba and let him play a low cross. our Right side is dead because semedo is not an attacking player and messi moves into the midfield anyways. second half we dominated possesion, but no real threat. surprised to see Vidal come on for roberto, i thought malcom couldve come on, change formation to 4-2-3-1, as messi plays like a CAM anyways. suarez's first touch is horrendous now, we need a younger striker to give suarez and his knee some rest. all-in-all, not the worst result seeing how poor weve been recently, but that must change for upcoming games

valverde doesn't have any tactics, Messi dictates the play often try to find Jordi Alba and Messi is being in CAM all the time instead advancing to CF position at times dembele is left with only one option to find the ball none other than Suarez . Suarez is wasteful now a days his slicking form yet valverde chooses to play him . there are some moment in game where coutinho is absolutely lost. I do have to mention again valverde doesn't got tactics and relying on Messi .

Fraudverde isnt at fault this time. The Lyon team had more grit than Barca and knew exactly how to play them. So rather than blame fraudverde, for the first time Barca should look at their players as the problem cos from what I saw that was one of the strongest possible line ups to field. Ndombele was a fantastic player and Lyon marked out Messi perfectly essentially closing Barca main channel to play through. Messi FC need to turn up at Nou Camp.

Barca 60%/ 40% possessions, 1000 passes / 200 passes yet without a goal will not win for us this champions league. why can't we shoot shots any how. outside the box inside the box or at any given position. imagine we play almost all the ninety minutes of the game in their own halves yet we didn't score any goal. imagine if this is what we will be doing when paired against Manchester city , Juventus, Bayern Munich or other top club. if we must win 🏆 this trophy, then we must learn to give up possession football and try playing counter attack football and shooting on goal at any position. today's match is so boring.

Pique was fantastic... he held the defense like a beast.. this guy is irreplaceable Sergio made a great performance, marked well gave good pass and he tried vital shots for Barcelona Stegen is a beast... Barcelona beast after messi....He caught shots that could have taken part in Barcelona being knocked out ...The guy is awesome ..... Dembele Was great started with spark but couldn't finish it same way but he would had perforned well if he was played at the right.... Messi was on beast mode...he scattered Lyon midfield /defense multiple times with dribble .....His efforts today was wasted thanks to Suarez.....But truth be told if Barcelona play like this and probably start Suarez, They may get knocked out....
