Lyon 4-1 Barca: Catalans 1st Women UCL dream fail as Lyon win 4th title in a row

Lyon showcased their brilliance in the 2019 Women's Champions League final in Budapest as they defeated Barcelona 4-1, with Ada Hegerberg netting a first-half hat-trick to put the game to bed early on.

This is the fourth European title in a row for the all-conquering Lyon side and their sixth in nine years.

Barcelona were contesting their first final in the competition, but their dreams were burst within just a few minutes due to the French side's fast start.

Dzsenifer Marozsan got the party underway for Lyon with the opener after just five minutes, an extra special goal for her given that she was playing in her hometown.

It then became the Hegerberg show as the Ballon d'Or holder netted in the 13th, 19th and 30th minutes for a rapid hat-trick as Lyon waltzed around the Blaugrana defence.

Barcelona finished the first half better, as it couldn't get much worse, and then held their own throughout the second half against a Lyon side that understandably dropped the intensity.

There was even a consolation goal for the Catalan side as Asisat Oshoala met a perfect pass from Lieke Martens, but this was Lyon's day and they celebrate retaining their title.
