MU to make final take it or leave it Bryan Mbeumo transfer offer to Brentford

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is keen on a move to Old Trafford, but his club knocked back Manchester United's first transfer bid for the Cameroon international

Manchester United are ready to submit an improved bid of £60million for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo – but it is likely to be their final offer.

United had an initial bid of £55m - £45m plus £10m in add-ons – rejected by Brentford, but are set to test their resolve to keep Mbeumo with a fresh offer of £55m, plus £5m in bonuses.

Brentford's valuation of Mbeumo starts at £60m, but United are hoping their improved offer of that figure will be accepted by the west London club and allow them to complete the signing of the 25-year-old.

Mbeumo has already indicated his desire to join United, with personal terms of around £200,000-a-week said to have already been agreed over a five-year contract with an option for an extra year.

The only stumbling block is the fee for Cameroon international Mbeumo, who would be United's second signing of the summer, following the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

United boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to improve his attacking options, after his side managed just 44 goals in the Premier League last season – the second lowest of a non-relegated side.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals for Brentford last season, as well as providing eight assists, and his arrival – on the back of Cunha – would herald a significant upgrade to United's blunt attack.

United missed out on a Champions League place for next season – and up to £100million in extra revenue - after losing the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham in Bilbao.

But the absence of European football next season has not put off the likes of Cunha and Mbeumo from wanting to join United, with the expectation a deal for the latter will soon be agreed.

United will raise the revenue for their summer sales with a clear-out of their existing squad, with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia all set to leave.

The hope among the United hierarchy is that player sales can raise up to £150m this summer, to add to the estimated £150m transfer budget already at Amorim's disposal.
