MU's longest-serving employee expected to depart after 46 YEARS at Old Trafford

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's latest round of job cuts is set to claim Manchester United’s longest-serving employee after 200 more staff discovered that they in danger of being axed.

Marie Marron, United’s highly-respected football administrator, is expected to leave at the end of the season after 46 years at Old Trafford.

After Kath Phipps, the much-loved receptionist who worked at United for over 55 years before she passed away in December, no-one has worked at the club longer than Marron who joined in 1978.

Marron is widely known within the game, having spent years liaising with the FA, FIFA and UEFA as part of her role, as well as dealing with United’s opponents for every domestic and European game.

She was in charge of all the operations in the 1999 Treble season and was in Spain this week for the Europa League semi-final first leg against Athletic Bilbao.

Marron, who has previously worked as assistant to the club secretary, is also described as the voice of VAR at Old Trafford.

She could become the latest long-serving staff member to lose their job amid growing concerns at United that the savage redundancy programme under Ratcliffe, often focussing on the more established employees, is in danger of tearing the heart and soul out of the club.
