Malcom's agent: Roma don't have the power to sue, as they had nothing signed

Roma may plan to take legal action against Barcelona over Malcom's singing, but the player's agent Junior Minguella has insisted that the Italians have no evidence of any wrongdoing.

The representative of the Brazilian in the Spanish market has also claimed that announcing the former Bordeaux winger's acquisition was a mistake Roma shouldn't have committed.

"They don't have the power to sue, as he hasn't signed any commitment to Roma, nor has he breached any contract or agreement," Minguella told RAC1.

"There is no legal reason to claim any damage or compensation of any kind.

"I understand that a great player has escaped from Roma and they may be disappointed or upset, but beyond that they have nothing.

"Roma made the mistake of making public that they had an agreement with Malcolm when they didn't really have one."

Minguella also confirmed Barcelona's interest in Willian and has indicated that the club already knew about Roma's approach for Malcom.

"Barcelona couldn't be aware of the explicit negotiations with Roma, Everton or Inter, but they did know the interest of these clubs, because we already communicated it to them.

"The team had Willian and Malcom as their two options to cover that winger position.

"The mistake was to make it public before its time and, then, Barcelona were forced to make the decision between one and the other and so they did."

The player had a medical with Barcelona on Wednesday and then flew out to join the squad on their US tour.
