Jack Grealish tasted defeat on his Manchester City debut as Leicester City won the Community Shield at Wembley thanks to a late penalty by Kelechi Iheanacho on Saturday.
Match Report
The 1-0 win over Pep Guardiola's side is yet another major trophy for the Foxes, adding to their Premier League title in 2016 and FA Cup from last season.
Brendan Rodger's side lifted the first silverware of the season after a goal from ex-Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho in the 89th minute, ruining Jack Grealish's debut for the Cityzens after signing this week.
It wasn't a final to remember, with both sides not fielding their strongest teams. Guardiola had some big names missing with De Bruyne and Stones out injured and several other big names still recovering from international duty over the summer with new signing Grealish starting on the bench.
Leicester also fielded a weakened side with a makeshift defence of Pereira, Amartey, Soyuncu and Bertrand.
There wasn't much rhythm to the match, which is expected in August with the Premier League not having started yet, there were early attempts on Schmeichel's goal early on from Gundogan and Mahrez.
Leicester responded quickly with shots from Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy, but the teams went into the break at 0-0.
The start of the second half saw an effort from Gundogan go over the bar and ex-Leicester man Mahrez missed a good opportunity to put his side ahead.
It wasn't until the 65th minute that we saw the introduction of Rodri and City's record signing Grealish (117 million euros from Aston Villa), who showed flashes of his undoubted ability.
Schmeichel denied Ferran Torres with just over 20 minutes remaining, but the tie was decided by an error when Iheanacho stole the ball from Nathan Ake after a pass from Rodri. Steffen saved from the Nigerian but referee Paul Tierney signalled for a penalty for a foul from Ake on Iheanacho, who converted from the spot.
Iheanacho seals another cup victory for his side after finishes top scorer in last season's FA Cup in a less than ideal start to the season for City and Jack Grealish.

But Kel play 122 matches and score above 39 goals, so why did u think he doesn’t worth the 100m? Is no England 🏴 player so no need to argue

Everyone is saying 100 million? And so? What of Grelish? Playing 200 above matches for Aston Villa and score 42 goals does he worth the 100m? Stop been sentimental
