Man City 9-0 Burton: Jesus hits FOUR in ruthless rout as City book final spot

Burton Albion's EFL Cup run came to a juddering halt at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City won their semi-final first leg 9-0.

Zinchenko scores his first City goal in fortuitous style as he hits a first-time cross from the left that flies over Collins and goes into the net at the back post.

It's a hat-trick for Jesus as City up the pace to cut through the Burton defence.

Mahrez cuts in from the right and lays off for Silva, who slides it forward into the box for Mahrez. He chips into the middle where Jesus rises highest and nods across goal and into the bottom corner.

It's two in two games for Foden.

Jesus is played through on goal and fails to finish as he shoots straight at Collins, but Burton don't clear the loose ball and it falls for Foden to finish from 12 yards out.

Sane chests down in the box and then pokes a lovely pass into the middle for Jesus to turn into the net from six yards out.

Mahrez gets in space down the left side, drives forward and then fizzes a cross into the middle where Walker - the right-back - produces a fine finish to turn the ball in.

Bernardo Silva gets played in down the left side and fizzes in a low cross for Mahrez. He swings and misses at his first attempt but the ball falls for him to poke in past Collins.

Gabriel Jesus grabbed four goals as Manchester City all but secured their place in the EFL Cup final with a crushing 9-0 first-leg victory over Burton Albion on Wednesday.

The Premier League champions have now put 16 goals past lower-league opposition in the past four days, Pep Guardiola's men having thrashed Rotherham United 7-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Kevin De Bruyne's first headed goal in English football set the hosts on their way, with Jesus adding a quickfire double before Oleksandr Zinchenko fortuitously opened his City account.

Jesus took his tally to four either side of Phil Foden's tap-in, before Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez completed a miserable night for Burton's cup heroes.
