According to The Sun, during Manchester United's 0-3 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth, a red-haired fan was caught by the broadcast camera with his hands covering his face, looking dejected. After the match, the fan found himself unexpectedly in the spotlight and jokingly commented that Sky Sports made him look like a "glow stick."

The fan's name on social media platform X is Tom Goodall. After seeing himself on the TV broadcast, he posted, "I know I'm a redhead, but my God, Sky Sports made me look like a glow stick."

At the time, Manchester United was experiencing a heavy defeat at Old Trafford. Facing AFC Bournemouth, Carrick's team could not withstand the opponent's attack, and the fans in attendance could not hide their disappointment. The image of the red-haired fan covering his face with his hands was captured by the camera, becoming a microcosm of Manchester United fans' despair.

In the 38th minute, Rayan scored first for AFC Bournemouth, and Marcus Tavernier extended the lead five minutes later. In the 71st minute, Evanilson scored another goal, ultimately helping AFC Bournemouth to a 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

This loss extended Manchester United's winless streak across all competitions to eight matches, with the team currently ranking 16th in the Premier League. Just four days prior, Manchester United had suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat to Italian side Como in a Champions League match.

Furthermore, after the loss to Como, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes publicly criticized Carrick's tactical setup. Subsequently, Carrick excluded the Portuguese midfielder from the starting lineup for the match against AFC Bournemouth, a decision that also drew widespread attention.
