Manchester United's players will be protected from the searing desert heat of Arizona by a retractable roof and air conditioning that costs £500,000-a-month to run when they play Club America at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Even though the first game of United's US tour kicks off at 7pm local time on Thursday, temperatures are still expected to be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Glendale on the outskirts of Phoenix.
Fortunately for United, the 64,000-seater arena which is home to NFL team Arizona Cardinals and hosted the 2015 Super Bowl, is well equipped to cope with the sweltering heat - even though the air conditioning bill goes through the domed roof at the height of summer.
Club America have flown in from Mexico City for the match and will be more accustomed to the conditions awaiting them than Jose Mourinho and his squad.
The most successful and best supported team in Mexico are also guaranteed to have more support from the large Hispanic population in Arizona.
However, Mourinho is looking forward to seeing how the young players in his squad cope against Mexican opposition.
United have included seven teenagers in their travelling party in the absence of a number of first-team players, and some of them are expected to feature in a game that kicks off at 3am UK time on Friday morning.
The United manager said: 'The young boys have a fantastic opportunity to train with us, to know what is to be a Manchester United first-team player, and have the chance to play against fantastic players - Liverpool, AC Milan, Real Madrid, to know other cultures, to play against an MLS team and a Mexican team.'
United are flying out from their LA base on the day of the game and will return to California to train before playing their second match against San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday.
That game takes place in the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, another NFL venue that hosts the San Francisco 49ers.

Built at the same time as the new Wembley for half the cost, a full roof and a pitch that can be rolled outside to catch the sun's rays. A University (!) stadium. This is what Wembley should have been, not the cheapo carbuncle, that's already falling apart with a leaky roof, in the middle of offices and flats because the FA couldn't afford to buy the land around Wembley Park.

Again and again you use Fahrenheit and the UK switched to the metric system in 1965, so why do the media not use Celsius?

Better to close the roof if ManU are in town, we all know what flies are attracted to.
