MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly saw a joint bid for Bayern Munich defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui rejected.

The Red Devils' push to bolster their back line has been halted by the injury to new signing Leny Yoro, who is set to be sidelined for three months with a foot injury sustained in pre-season.

De Ligt has not travelled with the Bayern squad to South Korea for their pre-season games, as he eyes an exit away from Germany.

Former West Ham target Mazraoui, who also played under the Dutchman for Ajax, could come in to compete with Diogo Dalot for the right back spot.

United hoped their joint bid would be enough to secure the targets but the offer was rejected by the Bundesliga giants, according to The Athletic.

It is not yet known how much was put on the table in order to snap up the pair, though United's £30m bid for De Ligt was rejected last week.

Agent Rafaela Pimenta, who manages both players, was reportedly shocked that Bayern changed their stance.

New manager Vincent Kompany informed the defenders that they were surplus to requirements ahead of the summer window.

Both players have reportedly agreed personal terms on five-year deals with Old Trafford.

Since arriving in 2022, Ten Hag has spent nearly £500m on transfers during his tenure.
