Bruno Fernandes could not inspire Manchester United to victory on his debut, which ended in a 0-0 draw with Wolves.
Match Reports
Manchester United failed to capitalise on Chelsea dropping points in the race for the Premier League top four as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Wolves in Bruno Fernandes' debut.
United completed the long-awaited capture of Portugal midfielder Fernandes on Wednesday in a deal that could end up being worth €80million.
Fernandes played the full 90 minutes as United sought to close the gap to Chelsea to four points, but the big-money signing could not help them break down Wolves in a contest light on incident.
The result will do little to boost spirits around Old Trafford, with United sixth in the table, level on points with Wolves in seventh and six behind Chelsea, who drew 2-2 at Leicester City earlier on Saturday.

Match Events
18' Pereira thumps his effort wide
WIDE! United put together some nice exchanges down the left and it's worked back into the middle for Pereira to strike first-time, but he thumps the effort wide!
20' SAVE! Fine stop from De Gea
SAVE! Great save! The second corner is lofted to Doherty at the back post and he loops a header towards the top-right corner that De Gea just manages to palm aside!
33' Fernandes' long-range strike goes wide
WIDE! Fernandes takes a shot on from distance at a tight angle on the right. It swerves dangerously towards the near post, but Patricio watches it all the way as it sails past the upright!
40' CHANCE! Fernandes' shot saved
SAVE! Shaw's cut-back finds its way to Fernandes just outside the box and he strikes it cleanly with the outside of his boot, but the effort is straight at Patricio, who holds on confidently!
53' Jota deletes Utd defence & nearly hits a solo stunner
JOTA! What a run from Jota! He knocks the ball past Lindelof and runs around him to collect it before chopping past Maguire in the box, but he just loses his footing at the last moment and can't finish the chance! That would have been a spectacular goal.
55' Yellow Card! Fernandes booked
58' CLOSE! Fernandes' free-kick saved
SAVE! Fernandes strikes the resulting free-kick and there's enough dip to get it on target in the top-left corner, but it's not quite got the pace to take it past Patricio, who scrambles across his line to make the save!
60' So close from Mata!
CLOSE! Mata takes the ball on the half-turn and strikes on the swivel towards the bottom-right corner, but it's agonisingly wide of the post!
78' Excellent save from Patricio!
SAVE! WHAT A SAVE! Greenwood cuts in from the right and strikes a fierce effort at goal that takes a big deflection off Boly and then another off Coady that sends it into the grateful arms of the diving Patricio!
94' What a miss from Dalot!
Dalot arrives in the box to meet Wan-Bissaka's cross but he loses his footing at the last moment and his stooped header is agonisingly wide of the post! That was the chance to win the game!

People waiting to roast Bruno Fernandes here just stfu.. He's had hardly been inside that team for 36 hours with one training session.. With that he hits 3 good strikes on target and he's literally adjusting to a team with his first full 90 minutes against a team like Wolves.. Show some Respect!

i haven't been on the this chart for some time now, i have been listening and looking the development at. Manu let me just short post by reconfirming my prior statements about Manu, we could buy the best players in the world we still not going to win any silverware, simply because Solskjaer doesn't have the technical ability, he lacks the confidence , experience and managerial qualities to handle such a big club like Manu, so having said that let's get serious and deal with the problems at Manu, we need to get rid of Edwood and Solskjaer, Carrick as well and bring in the right persons to get the job done. Manu is just buying time because at the end of the day there is no other way to resolve this situation. thanks

at least the trolls can't blame lingard.. now their next culprit is their beloved martial.. since they have succeeded in pushing the British players out. they have no British to blame, they now have to turn against their beloved martial that at one time they praised ahead of rashford.. it's obvious our biggest problem hasn't been addressed even with the Bruno buy and the problem is the predictability in the middle. Fred is the pick simple passes and be predictable midfielder which devoids pour game of dynamicism.. that affects our attacking play and our defensive play... rashford did a lot to cover that cos he is creative but they labelled his creativity selfishness too cos he is British and they love to criticise British players.. Mata was lost all game today yet no one blamed him..neither did they criticize Fred safe passing.. their next agenda is martial cos they want haaland who will also fail if we don't upgrade from our poor mans fernandinho (Fred) to a better midfielder..

it's obvious Fred is our biggest problem.. irritating watching him pick only the easiest passes , he passes sideways and only to the nearest man.. Fred is definately the poor man version of fernandinho only that United isn't a poor club and shouldn't be handling the most most important position on field to a safe passing predictable player... and where was Mata all game.. United need an upgrade from Fred hope to see mctominay back soon and if pogba remains in the club maybe pogba, mctominay and Bruno in the middle .. Fred isn't good enough for that position

Man utd players are so lazy.. and they will infect bruno with their virus soon. watch out. Coach should be blamed for this because he doesn't do his job. How many times has klop and pep sat down while his players are busy loosing d ball? Ole should be sacked..he can't even encourage d Players, is he not paid at all??

After watching just one game with Bruno Fernandes in our line up I'm super excited for the future. Because our midfield was and as of right now is one of our biggest weaknesses. But with just adding Bruno with Mctominay and Pogba (at least this year) it could become one of our strengths. But after watching today's game Daniel James, Pereira, Mata and Shaw are not good enough to get us to the next level. And I do not think Martial is either. Our counter attack is non-existent right now cuz Martial won't or can't make the runs that Rashford makes. or he just doesnt see the field as well as Rashford. Not once did he get behind the defenders today. Last thing is why don't some of our players run at there defenders to make them commit so then other parts of the field open up. We were passing the ball when they had nothing but space in front of them to run and push the ball up field and make there defenders commit to the ball. That way it's harder for the defense to just sit back and stack the box. This stat says it all about this team and the players desire to score. Bruno had more shots then the rest of the team combined.

Maybe I'm wrong but I really don't think Ole has what it takes to win games. He's tactics don't seem to have any effects on the opponents and I just fear for my life. We keep losing the ball very easily and it's now becoming a norm, he's instructions are just not changing anything. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Only God will understand how I feel really 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I can’t wait for McSauce and Pogba return so I won’t have to see people like Pereira and Lingard put on the Manchester United Jersey. How can these guys call themselves academy graduates or even United players when they are not willing to perform, it was clearly obvious that fernandes had to cover for pereira times without numbers. Pereira is lacking football intelligence, his positioning is reckless and doesn’t read the game in time and is so indecisive. Even if Paul returns, United need to strengthen in the Summer and if Pogba was to leave it means we’re back in square one because the technical quality that man possess is outstanding. I honestly think Bruno signing wasn’t enough, I’m proud to see Ighalo put on the Badge he’s loved since he was young but we are going into a tough period, Europa League won’t be easier and if we want think we’re going to be playing Champions League football next season we will need more depth in our squad. More quality/experience is need. I was pleased with the performance the boys gave but I know we could do more and now with the little break we got, we can create that bond among players. GGMU

Man Utd Vs Wolves summary; 1. Bruno is exceptional in his first debut although he made some mistakes but overall Im very satisfied. He showed that he is class above his teammates and what we need. Only some people can connect with his creativity 2. Fred is a beast 3. Our defenders were sloppy but they did a good job to keep Wolves quiet tonight. Wan Bisaka is crazy with his tackles, again, what a guy 4. Martial without Rashford is useless. He actually did not know what he was doing today. If Ighalo is available today, 100% sure, Martial will be subbed out 5. Wolves Gk is very good and very compose 6. It was a good game for the lads #GGMU

Cut the BS already about FERNANDES fail to deliver, how about the title say the new debutant SACRIFICE his position for the scrub name Pereira?? Bruno wasn’t bought to play CDM, Pereira needs to go, can’t wait for Scott, Paul and matic be back after the break cuz this kid is pure trash, not to mention martial, he’s now become the new scrub of all time... top 4 push definitely now after the break!!!

Ole has this extra love for Daniel James. why keep him on the pitch for so long when we have alternatives like chong and Dakota. sometimes Ole bores alot with his dirty tactics. Daniel was poor with the crosses. Bissaka was the only player I was seeing on the right wing
