Manchester United couldn't have wished for more comfortable start to the defence of their Carabao Cup as they beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has already endured some difficult moments this season, but this was as routine as you could want for a Wednesday night cup clash.

First half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro and a second half strike from Anthony Martial were enough to see United cruise through the tie and book their place in round four.

Ten Hag gave a full debut to Sofyan Amrabat as well as Harry Maguire's first start of the season, and there were returns for Mason Mount and Raphael Varane in a successful evening for the Red Devils.
