Man Utd 4-0 Norwich: Red Devils thrash bottom side, Rashford & Martial on target

Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata led the way for Manchester United as they thrashed Norwich City 4-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United bounced back from defeat to Manchester City in emphatic fashion, as Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata inspired a comfortable 4-0 win over rock-bottom Norwich City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were woefully inept in the 3-1 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg loss at Etihad Stadium, but on Saturday they found their groove, playing some eye-catching football en route to a straightforward win.

Norwich, who were without injured talismanic forward Teemu Pukki, rarely troubled United in a first half dominated by the home side, who went into the interval 1-0 up after Mata teed up Rashford.

Rashford got his second from the penalty spot early in the second period, before Mata – starting only a third Premier League game since the start of October – set up Anthony Martial to extend the lead and Mason Greenwood finished Norwich off, as United held on to fifth place to stay five points adrift of Chelsea.

Rashford uses a sublime piece of skill to get the better of Bryam in the box. He goes for a cutback towards Martial, but Zimmermann makes an important interception.

Mata gets on the ball and creates something out of nothing for the home side. He collects on the right flank and whips a perfect deep cross to the back post. Rashford times his run to perfection and gets behind Aarons to steer a strike beyond Krul into the back of a net. A super team goal from the Red Devils.

35' Fred's long shot wide out

Williams raids down the left flank and cuts back on his right foot to feed Fred. 

The Brazilian goes for a first-time strike on his left foot, but he curls it just wide of the post.

45' De Gea makes a decent save

De Gea denies Cantwell on the counter. Norwich break up field with menace after Wan-Bissaka denies an earlier break with a sliding challenge. 

Buendia still makes his way forward and offloads to Cantwell in space in the left inside channel. 

He goes for a curling strike towards the bottom-right corner, but the United keeper gets down to make the stop and holds on.

52' Penalty Goal! Man Utd 2-0 Norwich City (Rashford)

Rashford releases Willams into the left inside channel and the left-back is wiped out by the onrushing Krul. Referee Anthony Taylor does not hesitate in pointing to the spot.

United double their advantage as the forward holds his nerve from 12 yards. He curls his effort beyond the reach of Krul, finding the bottom-right corner. The Red Devils now have complete control of the contest.

United catch the visitors cold with a quickly-taken corner. Mata curls a dangerous cross into the middle. 

Martial rises highest above two defenders to glance his effort away from Krul into the top-left corner. 

57' Missed! Williams fails to score in front of an open goal!

Williams has to score. Martial and Pereira open up the Canaries defence down the right flank. 

Pereira cuts a low ball back across the face of goal, leaving the left-back with an open goal. However, Williams blazes his effort over the bar on his right foot from six yards out.

76' GOAL! Man Utd 4-0 Norwich City (Greenwood)

United score their fourth of the afternoon courtesy of a fine finish from Greenwood. It's abject defending from the Canaries as they allow the forward space and time to pick his spot from the edge of the box. 

He pulls the trigger on a left-footed strike that beats Krul into the bottom-right corner.
