Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the teams who have now officially confirmed their 25-man squads for the Champions League - and there are some big surprises
Premier League clubs have now confirmed their 25-man squads for the new Champions League campaign.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all qualified for the league phase for the new season. The Gunners were the best English performers last year, making it all the way to the final before losing on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain, who claimed the famous jug-eared trophy for a second successive year.
Liverpool have raised eyebrows with their 25-man squad, which does not include Federico Chiesa or Wataru Endo.
The news will come as the latest in a series of bitter blows for the former, who has endured a torrid time since moving to Anfield from Juventus back in the summer of 2024.
Chiesa is currently sidelined through injury but is expected to return to training later this month. He was also omitted from the Reds' Champions League squad last season by Arne Slot, only to be handed a reprieve when Giovanni Leoni sustained a serious knee injury.
The young defender, who is still working his way back to fitness, has been included by Liverpool alongside fellow injury absentees Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike.
From an Arsenal perspective, the big news is the inclusion of William Saliba despite the Frenchman's ongoing absence due to a back injury.
The Gunners released a statement towards the end of July outlining that Saliba would undergo a "managed recovery programme" rather than surgery, though reports suggested the centre-half would still miss a significant period of action.
Saliba's inclusion would appear to indicate that Arsenal, at the very least, harbour hopes he may able to play some role in the initial phase of this year's tournament. New signings Ezri Konsa, Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis are all included.
There are no major shock omissions or inclusions involving the other Premier League clubs competing in the tournament.
Manchester United have included their three major summer signings, Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in their squad as they return to the Champions League fold.
Liverpool’s 25-man Champions League squad: Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, Viteslav Jaros; Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet, Milos Kerkez, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Kostas Tsimikas, Jeremie Frimpong, Ronald Araujo, Luke Chambers, Isaac Mabaya; Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Aleix Mac Allister, Victor Munoz, Ryan Gravenberch, James McConnell; Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike, Bradley Barcola

Why isn’t Kobbie Mainoo on the Champions League squad list? Kobbie Mainoo is not out of the Champions League squad. UEFA has two different lists: List A •This is the main squad •Limited to only 25 players •Very strict rules on who can be included List B •This is the secondary list •For young players born on or after 1 January 2005 •Unlimited number of players •They can still 100% play in any Champions League matches. Kobbie Mainoo was born in April 2005, so he qualifies for List B ✅️ Being on List B does not mean he can’t play. He is still fully eligible for every Champions League game. United have simply chosen to register him on List B instead of using one of the 25 List A places. This is completely normal and happens every season with academy players. So no, Kobbie is not being left out of Champions League football. He can still feature whenever Michael Carrick selects him.
