Manchester United have opened preliminary talks with Paul Pogba over a new contract as they look to persuade the midfielder to stay at Old Trafford.
Pogba, the 26-year-old France international, has two years left on his deal and the club have an option to extend that by another 12 months.
United have made contact with the player’s representatives as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager, sees Pogba as a vital component in his plans to turn the club into serious title challengers again.
Pogba is arguably the best player at the club and his absence because of an ankle injury has been felt greatly in the past two Premier League games against Leicester City and West Ham United. Under the terms of his present contract, he earns £144,000 per week, but his wage is topped up by a further £6.5 million in image rights and loyalty payments.
United cannot offer Pogba Champions League football this season, but they are hopeful that being central to Solskjaer’s plans will help persuade him to stay in the face of interest from Real Madrid and Juventus.

Pogba is an academy player of Man United. don't worry at all winter transfer window would soon be open and all the pores would be filled. and united would be on form. I Really trust OLE because those senior players always claim on the media they need game time(Matic Periera Mata and Lingard ) he gave them the West Ham match to prove their worth. and now they're extremely below par. and that is how he can bench them for like 10games a and sell them out OLE is developing a setup and I strongly believe in that. Let him get his players Maguire,WanBissaka, James, now he's tied down DeGea, and Pogba is next of which we can get DYBALA and Savic OGS would tie down Greenwood contract to get full game time access. where Rashford and Martial would interchange James and Greenwood respective. and on the substitute we have Fred, Longstaff, Madison, Periera Gomes, at the midfield, including Chong. With Romero LeGrant, Tuanzenbe, Ruben Diaz, Dalot, Luke Shaw and the academy left back. the rest would be out of the team this is what I see in OGS plans and he'll fulfill it and there united would tear teams apart.
