Man Utd 'make enquiries over midfielders' after growing frustrated Mount chase

Manchester United have identified three possible alternatives to Mason Mount as negotiations with Chelsea over the midfielder continue to stall.

United have had three bids rejected for the England man, with the latest offer of £55million being declined the Blues last week.

The Red Devils believe their valuation of Mount is fair, as he is out of contract next summer and is keen to move to Old Trafford. However, Chelsea have indicated they will only accept an offer of £58m plus another £7m in add-ons.

A face-to-face meeting has been suggested by the West London club, however according to ESPN, Untied have already started to look at alternatives to Mount - while leaving their latest off on the table.

Enquires are said to have been made for Brighton's in demand midfielder Moises Caicedo, Mohammed Kudas at Ajax and FC Utrecht's Taylor Booth.

Caicedo has already been the subject of a £60m rejected bid from Chelsea, and the Blues had been favourites to land the Ecuadorian, who is a different player than Mount and would cost United considerably more.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has signalled that they would allow Caicedo to leave the Seagulls, but would be looking for around £80million for the player.

If Caicedo does leave, Brighton are also keen on Ajax's Kudas as they look to reshape their midfield following the departure of Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino remains hopeful that Mount will sign a new deal, but an agreement seems unlikely at this stage.

With the club looking to offload players following last season's £600million outlay, the Blues have come around to the idea of letting Mount go and feel finding a middle ground with United this summer is the best solution all round.

However, United are working to a strict budget with Erik ten Hag also targeting a new striker and a goalkeeper, with David De Gea's contract expiring this week.
