Manchester United are ready to splash out £70million on Jordan Pickford – a world record for a goalkeeper – if they lose David De Gea.
De Gea is discussing a new deal at Old Trafford, but wants about £350,000 a week to commit to the club long-term and turn down a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spain star, hailed as the world’s best keeper, is demanding any new contract pays him the same as Red Devils top earner Alexis Sanchez.
But United are already plotting how they can lure England No.1 Pickford from Everton, should De Gea exit next summer.
The package would eclipse the £66.8m Liverpool paid Roma for Brazil’s Alisson.
Pickford, a £30m buy from Sunderland last year, signed a new, six-year deal with Everton in September.

Recently,I understood Man United's problem.Their problem is majorly the way they play.In any match, they don't play cohesive football.Any time a man United player is with the ball, watch the distance between him and the next player to pass the ball to.They play stagnant football,if u are playing right full back, you will be steady there,no forward movement. The coach must do something and change their style of play.If players are too far away from themselves,cordination/cohesive play becomes a problem and you loose ball easily. No,Man United should sit up otherwise they will not even qualify for Europa this season with this their snail-like movement on the league table.
