Man Utd propose blockbuster Victor Osimhen swap transfer as Amorim gets ruthless

Manchester United are considering making a summer offer for Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season, netting just 33 goals in 27 Premier League outings, and Ruben Amorim is said to have grown frustrated with his options. The Portuguese coach even opted to start a match without Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee earlier this season.

That appears to leave United in the market for new striker in the summer and Osimhen appears to be on their shortlist. The club are said to be willing to use one of their players as a makeweight in the deal.

While Napoli bid for Alejandro Garnacho during the winter window, the Red Devils are prepared to offer Hojlund and £33million to make a deal for Osimhen, per Calciomercato. The Serie A side wanted to offload the Nigeria international last summer after signing Romelu Lukaku but could only facilitate a loan to Galatasaray.

Osimhen's future remains uncertain, and the 26-year-old has remained coy about what could lie ahead of him. Chelsea and Arsenal have previously been linked with the player.

"To be honest I don’t know," said Osimhen. "You know the last few months, nobody ever thought I would come here, I never believed I would come to Galatasaray despite how big they are.

"I live for the moment. I don’t know what will happen in the summer, but I want everybody to understand that I really love this club. I love the fans, I love the President, I love everyone associated with the club. It’s really a big deal to be here and I’m really enjoying my time here."

Landing Hojlund could prove tempting for Napoli too. Antonio Conte's side, who signed Scott McTominay from United last summer, were interested in doing a deal for the Denmark forward before his move to the Premier League. The 22-year-old had impressed the side while still playing for Atalanta but Napoli have seen a new coach and sporting director arrive in that time.

United may hit a stumbling block, however. Last summer saw claims from La Repubblica that the club were already then prepared to offer cash plus Rasmus Hojlund for Osimhen but Conte's preference was to sign Lukaku. That could signal the Italian side do not feel the need to land another forward.

Osimhen meanwhile remains a tempting proposition having scored 20 goals in 27 appearances while on loan. The forward is expected to leave Napoli and has a release clause of €75m (£62m) release clause.
