Jose Mourinho is ready to take on Manchester City in the transfer market again in the battle for Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
United boss Mourinho beat rival Pep Guardiola to the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January and wants to repeat that feat with £50million-rated Italy star Jorginho.
He heads Mourinho’s midfield wish-list, with Nice’s Jean Michael Deri and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred also on his and City’s radar.
Guardiola is looking to bring in one new midfield face, with Yaya Toure leaving and to ease the burden on Fernandinho.
Mourinho is also plotting a £20m move for Southampton right-back Cedric Soares, with the United boss keen on signing his Portuguese compatriot to provide competition for Antonio Valencia.
But United will have to fight hard if they are to land Jorginho. City have held already outline talks with his representatives over a summer move to the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
But United, who were unsuccessful in trying to prise Jorginho away from Italy last summer, are ready to hijack City’s bid for him by launching an approach of their own.
Mourinho is in the market for two central midfielders this summer, with Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini expected to leave as a free agent after failing to agree a contract extension.
Although Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl has also been looked at by City, it is understood Jorginho is also their first-choice target, with sporting director Txiki Begiristain having already begun the process of trying to land him.
Jorginho turned down United last summer after deciding to remain at Napoli, but they are ready to cash in on him this summer and it looks to be a straight fight between the two Manchester clubs for his signature.
Napoli have offered Jorginho a new contract but the 26-year-old is said to want to embark on a new challenge and is ready to make the switch to the Premier League.
Mourinho wants to add a right-back this summer, with Matteo Darmian leaving, and Soares, who is close to United defender Marcos Rojo, having played together at Sporting Lisbon, has emerged as a prime target.

the transfer saga is getting interesting morinho hijack is not new. he did it to spur with williams. liverpool with salah. alexis with city. this are part of strategy for preventing there opponent from strengthen there team. imagin why conte shouting that they should prevent alexis from going to m. city. think how m city attack will look with alexis. real madrid have been doing it to barca. look at assensio deal. cebellous deal at betis danilo even when they think they don't need the player. barca did the same to madrid from gomes deal. neymar deal. check the fact. #i stand to be corrected.

There was never a report or time in the last summer transfer window that United went for Jorginho or that he rejected United. I trust Mourinho in the transfer market, if he declares interest for any player, he automatically gets it at all cost. Which ever players will improve United's push for EPL next campaign is going to be our priority.
