Man Utd struggling to sell Ten Hag signing after five-word dig at Ruben Amorim

According to Mirror journalist Scott Trotter, Manchester United are looking to sell left-back Tyrell Malacia this summer.

United are hoping to offload Malacia as part of their broader plan to sell multiple players in order to raise funds. However, the deal may prove difficult to execute.

The 25-year-old was the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era. He made 39 appearances in his debut season, but missed the entirety of the following campaign due to injury and failed to make a single appearance. Before a short spell at PSV last season, he featured in only three Premier League matches.

United’s ability to strengthen the squad under manager Rúben Amorim may depend on how much they can recoup through sales. Following the January arrival of Danish left-back Dorgu, Malacia has found himself even further down the pecking order.

After joining PSV in January, Malacia appeared to take a subtle dig at Amorim amid United’s struggles, expressing his relief at playing enjoyable football again:

“I’m happy to be here,” he said. “Finally, I can play good football again. I’ve just come back from a long-term injury, but I’m fully fit now, and I know my time will come again.

“Every tough period has its positives. For me, it was becoming physically and mentally stronger. I’m more patient now, more mature, and I understand my body better. I’m ready to give everything and hopefully win some trophies with PSV.”

Earlier this year, Malacia came close to joining Benfica, but the deal fell through as the two clubs couldn’t agree on a loan fee or a buy option. While a move away still seems likely, his future remains uncertain.
