Manchester United have endured a lacklustre year under the stewardship of Ruben Amorim, as the Red Devils fail to provide results on the pitch and take a huge hit in terms of squad value
Manchester United's Tyrell Malacia has seen his market value plummet under the management of Ruben Amorim. Malacia hasn't stepped onto the pitch for United this season, with his last outing in a Red Devils shirt coming in January last year against Fulham.
Following that, he was shipped out on loan to PSV Eindhoven and even voiced his wish to part ways with United during the summer transfer window. Despite this, Malacia remains at Old Trafford and only just re-joined the first-team squad in training on Tuesday.
The Manchester Evening News have also reported that the Red Devils always planned to have Malacia training with the first-team again. The defender's market value has taken a significant hit over the past year.
When Amorim took the reins in November last year, Malacia was valued at £15.7million according to Transfermarkt. Now, his worth has dwindled to a mere £7million, marking a decrease of £8.7million in less than a year.
It's uncertain what lies ahead for Malacia and whether he'll get another shot at Premier League action, with a match against Sunderland looming this weekend. Amorim opted for Patrick Dorgu in the left-wing-back position during last weekend's Premier League defeat to Brentford, while Luke Shaw has frequently been deployed as a left-sided centre-back.
Diogo Dalot is back in the matchday squad, potentially playing at right-wing-back, leaving it uncertain where Amorim might use Malacia if the defender is brought back into the squad for the Sunderland clash. Kobbie Mainoo is another player whose market value has taken a hit under Amorim's management.
The midfielder's worth has reportedly dropped from £48m to £43.6m. Luke Shaw's value has also seen a dip, falling from £24.4m to £10.5m since last year, and it's a similar tale for Mason Mount, whose value has also decreased from £24.4m to £10.5m.
Three summer 2024 signings have also witnessed a drop in their values. Matthijs de Ligt (£48m to £33m), Manuel Ugarte (£43.6m to £39.3m) and Joshua Zirkzee (£36.7m to £26.2m) have all experienced a fall in their market values since Amorim took the reins.
The total of these valuation changes, along with Malacia, amounts to £63million. It comes as Amorim has failed to turn the tide since taking over from Erik ten Hag. The 40-year-old could only guide the club to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League standings last term, albeit largely with an inherited squad which didn't suit his system.
But after receiving the full backing of the board this summer and being afforded a full pre-season, Amorim will not be able to rely on the same excuse for poor form this term. At present, United sit 14th in the league standings with two wins and three losses from their opening six matches.
The club were also embarrassingly ousted from the Carabao Cup by a League Two Grimsby Town in August on penalties after a dismal showing away from home. While Amorim will certainly be feeling the pressure to succeed, he may not have much time remaining to turn the tide.
And with an in-form Sunderland, defending Premier League champions Liverpool, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Spurs all to play in United's next five games, things could take a turn for the worse over the course of the next month or so.

The players' drop-in value has less to do with the coach please. Stop heaping all the blame on the coach. Some of those players have caused a drop in their values because of their long-term injuries eg Luke Shaw and Mount, others because of their performance and yet others its the performance of the club on and off the pitch and it's overall management. Casting all the blame on one person will not solve these issues. Man Utd will keep changing coaches because of media houses reporting certain narratives forcing the Management to act. I hope INEOS ignores the narrative some former players and some media houses are spurning.

just take out Amorim, he's not good for M. United, since his arrival the team just dropped quality, he might be a good coach but at Manchester his style not working
You mean player that call themselves a professional are not professional but average that’s why they can’t buy into the system even when they use 4231 they still get beaten so wtf are you talking about? Get rid of them average players first smh

So Amorim is to be blamed for their values that are dropping, when the players are fighting and having feuds among them, this player thinking is better than this player and should be paid more than him, and refusing to pass the final ball to him to score,he will rather try finishing it by himself,so that he doesn’t shine more than him,so he doesn’t know it will come back to hunt them all, when a team does not do well for a long time ,the market values of the players will start dropping,in this case Amorim shouldn’t be blamed for it,Bruno is one example, when cr7 was at United,Bruno wasn’t happy because all attention was on cr7,Bruno wasn’t shining, until cr7 left, Bruno started shining, how on earth can a midfielder out score strikers year after year,if you think am wrong, how many match have we played this season and how much goals have our front 3 strikers scored, use your sense.

Just wondering if I'm as stubborn as Amorin i know he's a proven manager Sporting did well under his tenure! he can get a team to play as a team. So Amorin's stubbornness week after week not to alter formation to suit is casting doubt on his professionalism thus i feel i can no longer back him 100%. or can I?
Oga stfu dem tell you say na formation be problem for Man U? mumu

With this coach, he will lose all the matches mentioned here unless the opponent gets a red card
