Liam Delap has begun speaking to Premier League sides ahead of a £30million transfer away from Ipswich Town this summer - and Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed their interest
Everton have become the latest Premier League club to show an interest in signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 22-year-old is poised to leave Ipswich following their relegation and has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
His 12 goals in 36 Premier League games for a struggling side has caught the eye of many scouts and a move away from the Tractor Boys is all but certain. Their demotion back to the Championship has triggered a £30million release clause in Delap’s contract and sparked interest from across the league.
United are chasing a centre-forward this summer and want to sign Delap alongside Wolves star Matheus Cunha in a £92.5m double deal. However, they face competition from Chelsea, who are also in the market for a striker and will be able to offer Delap European football next season.
Defeat by Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday ensured no Champions League place for next season and hurt United’s chances of landing the youngster, who wants to make the step up. Everton’s emergence as another rival for his signature comes as a further blow.
“We have had a chance to speak to him,” Everton boss David Moyes said on Friday. “He’s spoken to three or four clubs and he’s given us the opportunity to pitch our case. We’re probably a little bit behind the black ball but you never know what happens.”
While Everton, like United, can’t offer European football, they could offer Delap the position of first-choice centre-forward. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire on June 30, while Armando Broja is poised to return to parent club Chelsea at the end of his loan spell, leaving Beto as the sole striker on the books.
Delap will play his final game for Ipswich against West Ham on Sunday before making his decision in the coming weeks. “Liam’s looking at his options for next year, which I think he is entitled to do and we support him with that,” Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna said at a press conference.
HAVE YOUR SAY! Which club would be the best fit for Liam Delap? Comment below.
“I think we have given him permission to do that this week. It’s a very important decision for his future. Of course there is a lot of interest – and rightly so. I think part of his week has been having some of those conversations.
“It looks more likely than not that he will move on this summer and he has interest from pretty much every club in the league, and I don’t think there are many clubs in the world who wouldn’t want to have him. (However) nothing is sorted, nothing is done or completed or even very, very, very close, so that process will take its course.”

I would go for Jonathan David, free transfer, scored goals for years and is definitely not a flash in the pan. The risk with Delap is he's more a Hojlund or Evan Ferguson and not the next big thing. Yes David will command a big signing fee and higher salary but he can be a guy who can score goals all his career and not just for a season

He’s not at that level yet. He needs to join a mid table team like Everton or a small team like United first.
for sure.

Sadly for you, you are not the give of life😂😂 Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United and Harward Webb thought they were God until nemesis caught up with them. United will continue to be failure because the era of buying referees and match officials has long gone😂😂😂 even the fans like us in the stadium 🏟️has a better coverage than the referees, nothing is hidden anymore.😎😎
Oh I’m not the give of life 😂,I thought you’re in the best position to determine another one’s future since you’re the second in command to God,you can see the future clearly Mr Seer😂.

Arsenal should sign of Gyokeres or Osimhen in addition to Delap. They should sell Gabriel Jesus who is injury prone. Manchester City may have to rethink because Delap is in my mind, a very good replacement for Julian Alvarez who is now at Atletico Madrid.

12 goals in 36 matches I don’t get the logic of how he is a proven striker, overhyped cuz he is a English player, smh 🤦♂️
that's true.. but I'm sure they're looking at his clinical not his stats.. with better players around more goals. u understand? who knows

So happy your opinions don’t mean shit and the club won’t be wasting money on relegation strikers!!! Keep thinking you know football and crying in my comments though if it makes your pathetic life feel any better 🤡🤡🤡

pure number 9 doesn’t do well in Liverpool formation...they need a fluid dynamic forward...as no 9 Nunez is better but has underperformed in Liverpool

How can Delap leave Ipswich on 18th to Man United on 16th going to 17th, what is the guarantee that they wouldn't join Ipswich next season the rate they are going?
Your going on as if united finish near the bottom every season, it was one season relax. Also no united fan wants delap he's brutal, we all want gyokeres. You can pray for us to get relegated it won't happen. If we played this bad and still didn't get relegated then yeah it's clear we won't. Really shows you how bad the bottom 3 teams really are.

Why's Arsenal not in this conversation??? There's a school of thought that they could go get both him, and Gyokeres; and either let them battle it out for who's first choice, or choose a clear No.1 and No.2; cause there's enough football going around for everyone to be happy. As long as Arteta doesn't mismanage the situation like he sometimes does.

Man Utd actually tabled £90m, but he said they are 16th on the table, not much different from his old team, he needs a better challenge
what do you mean? Arsenal played UCL this year and will play next season, so they are a good team. being 2nd for the 3rd time means they good. I feel like you dont know how to insult, everything you said were compliments..🤣😂😅
